Following this week’s ratings gain, Empire is the only primetime broadcast series to grow in total viewers over each of its first five telecasts in at least 23 years (since Nielsen began measuring that metric in September 1991). In Live + Same Day ratings, Empire was watched by 11.47 million viewers with a 4.6 rating/14 share in the Adults 18-49 demo.
Through its first five weeks, American Idol is showing better retention from its premiere this season (90%) than it did last season, when it was down -23% from premiere at this point.
FOX is up +10% versus last year in non-linear viewing outside the Nielsen-measured window (FOX NOW, Hulu and VOD Days 4+). Non-linear viewing accounts for 17% of all FOX entertainment programming consumption, versus 13% last year.
