Flashback: Why Charlotte Ross Chose to Leave Days of our Lives

Charlotte Ross as Eve Donovan
In the June 4, 1991 issue of Soap Opera Weekly, Charlotte Ross explained why she was leaving her role of Eve Donovan behind.   Ross asked to be released from Days of our Lives, after completing the first year of her three year-contract.  Below is the full interview.

"Last year, when my contract came up for renewal, I really only wanted to re-sign for one year, she says, "but I ended up with a big three three-year deal. Then Billy Warlock (Frankie) came on, and I started working a lot. But now that he's leaving (Warlock's contract ends in early July), I think's it's a perfect time for me to go, too. I wasn't ready to leave DAYS last year-- emotionally or financially. This year I am."

Charlotte Ross To Guest Star on 'Arrow'

Emily Bett Rickards, Charlotte Ross
Days of our Lives alum Charlotte Ross has been tapped to play the mother of Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards) on Arrow, according to TVGuide.com.

Ross, whose credits also include Nashville, NYPD Blue and Glee, is slated to appear in at least one episode in early November. Details on Felicity's mother — including her name and whether she'll appear in flashback or present day — are being kept heavily guarded.

Arrow is planning a series of Felicity-centric flashbacks that the producers call "the secret origin of Felicity Smoak."

"We are absolutely going to get to know her," executive producer Marc Guggenheim recently said. "We know that she went to MIT, we know that her mom was a cocktail waitress in Vegas and we're going to meet that mom. And we also know that her dad is not in the picture."

It was revealed at Comic-Con that the Felicity-centric episode would be titled "Oracle."

Arrow returns for its third season on Wednesday, October 8 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.

Will Kassie DePaiva Succeed as Eve Donovan on 'Days of our Lives'?

Kassie DePaiva
Kassie DePaiva
Emmy-nominated actress Kasssie DePaiva has been starring in soap operas since she joined the cast of CBS' Guiding Light in 1986 as Chelsea Reardon. She became a daytime superstar in 1991 when she took over the role of Blair Kramer, a character previous portrayed by an Asian actress. She stayed on the show until the end of its ABC run in 2012, continued the character on sister soap General Hospital, and reprised the role in Prospect Park's online reboot of One Life to Live in 2013. On June 18, DePaiva brings her talents to NBC's Days of our Lives in the role of Eve Donovan, a character previously played by Charlotte Ross from 1987-1991. Ross was in talks to play Eve again but the timing did not work out with her schedule so the show needed a strong actress to take the part. On paper, and based on Eve's first run in fictional Salem, the character did not seem like a logical fit for DePaiva. Was this a case of casting a "name" actor over finding just the right person? Or is DePaiva the perfect actress to play who Eve is in 2014? Fans have been discussing this since the casting was announced in January. Daytime soaps have become notorious for miscasting stars from other shows onto new series, despite the fact the character/actor combo did not pass the smell test (Maura West as Diane on The Young and the Restless comes to mind - right actor, wrong part).

Here's what we know about Eve:
