Production on the third season of the critically acclaimed hit Showtime drama series Penny Dreadful is currently under way, and a wealth of new and returning stars is headed to the set in Dublin, Ireland. Tony Award-winning star Patti LuPone ( American Horror Story ), who guest starred last season as the Cut-Wife, returns as a series regular in the new role of Dr. Seward, an American therapist who treats Vanessa (Eva Green) with an unconventional new approach. Also, this season will add Robert Louis Stevenson's Dr. Henry Jekyll to the lineup of literary characters featured in the show, to be played by Shazad Latif ( The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel , Spooks ). SHOWTIME will now premiere the sophomore season of the critically-acclaimed psychological thriller PENNY DREADFUL on Sunday, May 3rd at 10 p.m. ET/PT. PENNY DREADFUL returns with ten episodes and will find Vanessa Ives (Eva Green) and Ethan Chandler (Josh Hartnett) forming a deeper bond as the group, including Sir Malcolm (Timothy Dalton), Dr. Frankenstein (Harry Treadaway), and Sembene (Danny Sapani), unite to banish the evil forces that threaten to destroy them. As Penny Dreadful makes its San Diego Comic-Con debut, Showtime will host autograph signings featuring cast members Josh Hartnett, Reeve Carney, Harry Treadaway, and creator and executive producer John Logan on Thursday, July 24th and Friday, July 25th. This marks the series' first trip to the world-famous gathering in San Diego. Headlining the opening night of Comic-Con, Penny Dreadful 's panel session, moderated by Emmy Award-nominated actress and host Aisha Tyler ( The Talk , Archer ), will be presented on Thursday, July 24th from 6:00-7:00 pm in Ballroom 20. A special package of Penny Dreadful -inspired tarot cards will be given to all fans who attend the panel session. After the thrilling conclusion of its critically-acclaimed first season, the hit Showtime drama series Penny Dreadful will make its Comic-Con debut on Thursday, July 24th from 6-7 pm with a panel session in Ballroom 20 on the first day of the world-famous annual gathering in San Diego. Featured panelists will include series stars Josh Hartnett, Reeve Carney and Harry Treadaway and series creator, writer and executive producer John Logan, and will be moderated by Emmy Award-nominated actress and host Aisha Tyler ( The Talk , Archer ).

Showtime has picked up a second season of its critically acclaimed drama series Penny Dreadful , it was announced today by David Nevins, President, Showtime Networks Inc. The network has given an expanded order of ten episodes to the series. Created, written and executive produced by three-time Oscar nominee John Logan, Penny Dreadful has been embraced by the network's subscribers, drawing 4.8 million weekly viewers across platforms since its launch. The series, which debuted to rave reviews, has claimed the spot as the network's No. 1 watched new show ever on Showtime On Demand and Showtime Anytime with over 3.6 million viewers on those platforms through the third week of the season. Starring Josh Hartnett, Timothy Dalton and Eva Green, Penny Dreadful will go into production, and will once again shoot on location in Dublin, Ireland for a 2015 launch.

Showtime will present a first-look screening of its highly anticipated new horror series PENNY DREADFUL at the South by Southwest (SXSW) Film Conference and Festival on Sunday, March 9 at 2 p.m. in the Vimeo Theater at the Austin Convention Center in Austin, Texas. PENNY DREADFUL, from the creative mind of three-time Oscar(R) nominee John Logan (Hugo, The Aviator, Gladiator, Skyfall), has been selected as one of six shows for the Festival's brand new "Episodic" screening category.
