SundanceTV Renews 'Rectify' for Third Season

The third season of Rectify will premiere on SundanceTV in 2015.
SundanceTV announced today the renewal of the network's first wholly owned original scripted series Rectify slated to air in 2015. The haunting story of a man released from prison after spending nearly two decades on death row, Rectify is created and written by Ray McKinnon (The Accountant, Deadwood, Sons of Anarchy), and executive produced by Mark Johnson and Melissa Bernstein, the award-winning producers behind Breaking Bad. Season two will finale on August 21st at 9pm EST.

Sarah Barnett, SundanceTV President, stated, "Rectify has evolved into a show much loved by critics and fans. As SundanceTV's first scripted series, it's gratifying to see such distinctive and unusual storytelling embraced with such passion. SundanceTV's Original Scripted Mini-Series 'One Child' to Air as a Two-Night Special Event, Thanksgiving Weekend, November 28th and 29th

This Thanksgiving, SundanceTV will offer a feast for thought on the definition of family, with the Thanksgiving weekend debut of its newest original mini-series "One Child." It was announced today at the Television Critics Association press tour, that the four-hour series penned by Guy Hibbert (Complicit, Five Minutes of Heaven) which stars, Katie Leung (Harry Potter) and features Emmy (R) nominated actress Elizabeth Perkins ("Weeds") and Donald Sumpter ("Game of Thrones", The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) will air as a two-night special event on Friday, November 28th and Saturday, November 29th. "One Child" follows the journey of a Chinese-born young woman adopted by British parents as she struggles in the face of crisis to determine her family loyalties, true identity and the meaning of family.

Elizabeth Perkins and Donald Sumpter Join Scripted Original Miniseries 'One Child,' Co-Produced by SundanceTV

SundanceTV announced today that Elizabeth Perkins and Donald Sumpter have joined the cast of One Child, a co-produced, new original scripted miniseries. The four-hour series penned by Guy Hibbert (Complicit, Five Minutes of Heaven) and starring Katie Leung (Harry Potter) is currently in production in London and Hong Kong and will air in late 2014. One Child crosses the world as a Chinese-born young woman adopted by British parents must struggle with who she really is in order to decide where her loyalty lies.

SundanceTV Co-Producing New Scripted Original Series 'Babylon'

SundanceTV announced today its next original scripted series Babylon, which it is co-producing with UK broadcaster Channel 4. The drama is a biting workplace satire set inside a modern police force. The story revolves around an earnest executive who attempts to modernize the culture only to discover her certainties shattered and herself undermined in the murky realpolitik of contemporary policing. The series is executive produced by Academy Award winner Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire, 28 Days Later, Trainspotting) and stars Brit Marling (Another Earth, Sound of My Voice) and James Nesbitt (The Hobbit, Millions). The series is penned by Sam Bain and Jesse Armstrong (Peep Show, The Old Guys, Fresh Meat) and produced by Robert Jones (The Usual Suspects, Dirty Pretty Things) and Derrin Schlesinger (Southcliffe, Four Lions). It will premiere on SundanceTV in 2015.

Sundance Miniseries 'The Honorable Woman' to Premiere July 31

SundanceTV announced today that “The Honorable Woman,” starring Academy Award® nominee Maggie Gyllenhaal (Crazy Heart, The Dark Knight, Secretary), will premiere Thursday, July 31, 2014 at 10pm ET/PT. “The Honorable Woman” is a fast paced, labyrinthine thriller set against an international political backdrop of paranoia and espionage. The eight-part miniseries is written and directed by BAFTA Award® winner Hugo Blick (The Shadow Line) and follows one woman’s personal journey from London’s Whitehall and MI6 to the CIA in Washington to the Middle East to right the wrongs of her family’s past. The Hollywood Reporter touted Blick’s gripping drama as one of this summer's "Hottest New Fiction Shows.”

Sundance Channel Renews THE WRITERS' ROOM

Sundance Channel announced today the renewal of its original non-fiction series THE WRITERS' ROOM. The six episode half-hour series hosted by Academy Award(R) winning screenwriter Jim Rash takes viewers inside the writers' rooms of the hit television shows that are defining pop culture today. The announcement was made today by Sarah Barnett, Sundance Channel President. The series is slated to premiere in spring 2014.

Season two will go behind the scenes with the writers, producers and actors from a variety of hit series, including, SONS OF ANARCHY (Kurt Sutter, Charles Murray, Mike Daniels, Katey Sagal), HOUSE OF CARDS, PRETTY LITTLE LIARS (I. Marlene King, Oliver Goldstick, Joseph Dougherty, Troian Bellisario, Shay Mitchell), THE GOOD WIFE (Robert King, Michelle King, Ted Humphrey, Julianna Margulies), SCANDAL (Shonda Rhimes, Mark Wilding, Matt Byrne, Jenna Bans, Heather Mitchell, and Kerry Washington), and a special episode about the growing trend of comic book and graphic novel adaptations in TV which will highlight popular series such as THE WALKING DEAD and SMALLVILLE.
