A national PSA campaign hopes that – for 37 million Americans – that includes getting a diploma.
Kristian Alfonso (Hope Brady,
Days of our Lives) and John J. York (Mac Scorpio,
General Hospital) are helping to address this issue with two fun new public service ads (PSAs) produced with the Ad Council.
The ads draw a humorous parallel between the drama of a soap opera and the drama of not having a high school equivalency credential.

The High School Equivalency campaign encourages young adults without a high school diploma to take the first steps toward a better future by signing up for free adult education classes in their area. More than 37 million adults in America do not have a high school diploma. Data shows that adults without a diploma tend to work multiple jobs in the least stable positions, earn less money than high school graduates, and experience a lower quality of life. The PSAs encourage viewers to “skip the drama” and earn their high school equivalency.
