'Days of our Lives' Star Freddie Smith Had .093 Blood Alcohol Level During Car Crash, Above Ohio's .08 Legal Limit

Days of our Lives star Deidre Hall tweeted a photo with Freddie Smith, who was back on the set
of the NBC soap opera last week.
Days of our Lives star Freddie Smith was legally drunk and possibly speeding in the October 7 car crash that seriously injured his girlfriend, actress Alyssa Tabit, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

A report in the Ashtabula Star Beacon revealed Smith's blood alcohol level to be .093. The legal limit in Ohio is .08.

Tabit is recovering from her injuries.

Smith drove off Route 84 in Kingsville Township when he lost control of the Mazda 6 he was driving on a curve in the road, just east of Dibble Road, according to the OHP report.

Police have said they suspected speed and alcohol were factors in the crash.

As of Monday night, the crash is still under investigation and charges are pending, according to the OHP report.

Troopers received the results from Smith’s blood alcohol test on Monday.

Smith plays the part of Sonny Kiriakis on NBC daytime drama Days of our Lives.

According to OHP, Smith's car crossed the center line at about 12:40 a.m. October 7, traveled to the left side of the road and hit a culvert, causing the vehicle to flip end over end.

When the vehicle came to rest, Tabit was temporarily trapped inside. She was flown by medical helicopter to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital.

Smith had only minor injuries.

Smith participated in the Days of our Lives annual "Day of Days" annual fan event on Saturday. Smith and co-star Guy Wilson (Will Horton) teased what's coming up for Will and Sonny, including a recently added character to the show in the "WilSon" mix.
