Willa Fitzgerald will star in MTV's Scream. |
Willa Fitzgerald (Royal Pains) will topline the adaptation of Wes Craven's and Kevin Williamson's horror franchise. Bex Taylor-Klaus (Arrow), John Karna (The Neighbors), Carlson Young (The Kroll Show), Connor Weil (Sharknado), Joel Gretsch (Witches of East End, V) and newcomer Amadeus Serafini will co-star in the drama. Bobby Campo (The Final Destination) will recur.
Jamie Travis (Faking It) will direct the pilot, which hails from Dimension Films and The Weinstein Co. Jay Beattie and Dan Dworkin (Criminal Minds, Revenge) penned the original script, with Jill Blotevogel (Harper's Island, Ravenswood) on board to executive produce and serve as showrunner. Harvey and Bob Weinstein will exec produce MTV's reboot alongside Wes Craven, Marianne Maddalena and Cathy Konrad, all of whom served in the same capacity on the original franchise. Williamson is not involved in the MTV take. Tony DiSanto and Liz Gateley, who originally brought the Scream project to MTV in 2012, will also exec produce via their DiGa Vision banner.
Fitzgerald will star as Emma Duvall, a classic beauty whose looks and popularity hide a natural shyness and intellectual nature. Her new life with the "in crowd" leaves her estranged from her from childhood best friend, Audrey. Emma is the lead in MTV's Scream take and bears a resemblance to Neve Campbell's tortured high school student Sidney Prescott in the 1996 feature film.
Forsyth's Audrey Jensen is the daughter of a Lutheran pastor. She's described as an artsy loner who aspires to be a filmmaker.
Karna is set as Noah Foster, a creative computer genius with a vast knowledge of pop culture and the tech world. He's best friends with Audrey.
Young will portray Brooke Maddox, the charismatic leader of the popular crew whose personality vacillates between bubbly sweetness and ferocious sex appeal.
Serafini will be Kieran Wilcox, the mysterious new kid in town with a dark side and a tough exterior that hint at experience beyond his years.
Campo will recur as Seth Branson, a hot English teacher at Lakewood High who has an easy charm and is clearly one of the "cool" teachers, who can go with it if a lesson plan gets a little off-track.
Weil will portray Will Belmont, an all-American high school basketball player who adores his girlfriend, Emma (Fitzgerald).
Gretsch is on board as Sheriff Clark Hudson, a good guy and good sheriff who is father to Kieran (Amadeus Serafini). David Arquette famously portrayed the lovable sheriff in Williamson's features.
