'Days of our Lives' Star Alison Sweeney Joins 'General Hospital," as a Director!

Alison Sweeney, who recently tapped her last episode as Sami Brady in NBC soap opera Days of our Lives, has landed another daytime gig, as a director of ABC's General Hospital.

In the latest issue of Soap Opera Digest, GH Executive Producer Frank Valentini explains that Sweeney observed his team in action and earned the opportunity.

"She's sort of paid her dues and spent some time learning the show," explained Valentini, so when an opening presented itself, "I asked her if she was available and she said yes."

Sweeney will direct her first episode this month.

Since shooting her final Days episode, Sweeney has been busy promoting her latest book, "Scared Scriptless." She will also star and executive produce the upcoming Hallmark movie, Radio Hype.
