Sharon Case on Her 'Y&R' Character Sharon: "She Doesn't Feel Responsible for What Happened to Sage."

Sharon Case
This week on The Young and the Restless, Sharon struggles to keep the secret that Nick (Joshua Morrow) and his late wife Sage (Kelly Sullivan) are the biological parents of her son Sully. If she doesn't reveal the truth, is she doing it to save herself?

"It's about whose lives are going to change and maybe not for the better," Case tells Soap Opera Digest. "Sharon worries that the loss of a child would be devastating for Dylan. She knows from personal experience how awful it is. Faith would be going though it, too, because she thinks of Sully as Sharon and Dylan's child, so it would be hard for her to believe otherwise. Sharon is also thinking about Sully, because she is the only mother he knows. It would be very jarring for him to be taken away from her. Sharon is thinking about all of these complications, as well as the fallout, and she thinks that it's better to just stay quiet for now and leave things the way they are."

Chrishell Stause Talks New Y&R Role Bethany Bryant.

Chrishell Stause (ex-Jordan DAYS; ex-Amanda AMC) has joined the cast of The Young and the Restless in the recurring role of Bethany Bryant, and the actress couldn't be happier.

"As an actress, it's one of those parts you always hope to get, so I feel I really lucked out," Stause tells Soap Opera Digest.

How does Stause describe her new character? "I would describe her as completely in the moment, very fun and a little ornery. Bethany is definitely out to have fun at other people's expense. I'm excited for this character to start airing because she is so much fun to play."

The popular actress is currently working without a contract, but she is fine with that for the time being. "I feel the possibilities are endless with this character. I'm having a lot of fun with this and I guess we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. Right now, I'm having a blast and I can't wait to see where this goes, so who knows?"

Stause didn't have any first-day jitters. "Aside from already having so many friends over there and joining all these familiar faces on an amazing show, it's the perfect character for me, so that really helped..."

Familiar faces include her real-life boyfriend Justin Hartley (Adam) and best friend, Melissa Claire Egan (Chelsea). "Even though I'm given my own dressing room, I end up together with one of them anyway," she laughs. "Just in the few days I've been there, it's been nice that we've had lunch together. There's a lot of hard work going on, but it's awesome when you have down time and you can sneak in and say, 'Hey, I'm going to grab some food, are you hungry?' It's a cool perk of the job."

Stause debuts as Bethany Bryant on May 25.

Both Jenkins and Egan were on full display showcasing their toned bodies. Would Y&R have shot that scene in a similar way with David Tom in the role? 'The Young and the Restless' Executive Producer Jill Farren Phelps Says Daytime Soaps Today Have 'An Overall Hipper Viewing Audience'

The Young and the Restless executive producer Jill Farren Phelps, Peter Bergman (who plays Jack Abbott) and Melissa Claire Egan (Chelsea Newman) recently spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about the rise in soap opera viewership this past year. Soaps are up 15% which bodes well for the industry.

According to Phelps, "The stories have more edge, there are quicker editing cuts and newer music. The pace, tone and sophistication have changed. We have smarter viewers, and I think that's true of all the soaps. It's an overall hipper viewing audience."

Bergman says, "Yes, we've reduced the number of soaps, but there are still enough people who think, 'That's my kind of entertainment; let's see what's left.'

Cameron Mathison Says He's Not Joining 'The Young and the Restless' as the New Adam Newman

Cameron Mathison and Melissa Claire Egan.
Acknowledging the speculation that he has been cast as the new Adam Newman on The Young and the Restless, Cameron Mathison tweeted, "Just to clear up some rumors... There is absolutely NO indication that I am going to Y&R to play Adam Newman. Thanks for all the support tho."

Mathison played Ryan Lavery on All My Children for 13 years. At one point, Ryan married Annie McDermott, played by current Y&R star Melissa Claire Egan (who plays Adam's wife).

If not Mathison, who will be cast as the new Adam on Y&R? Michael Muhney and Chris Engen were the two most recent actors in the role.

Stay tuned.
