Rebecca Herbst Signs New Deal to Remain at 'General Hospital'

TV Insider is confirming that Rebecca Herbst has signed a multi-year deal to continue in the role of Elizabeth Webber on General Hospital.

"I felt so bad that I couldn’t interact with the fans and answer all their questions, but you’re not allowed to talk when these contract things are going on," Herbst explained. "That’s just the way it is. There was a lot of speculation that I was unhappy at GH, which was never the case. I love my job. I love the people I work with. By not saying something, I was kind of making it worse. It was so hard keeping quiet."

"When you work together with a company for this long of a period you become a family, and from that you fight like family," Herbst continued. "And we did fight! But a good thing came out of this. [Executive producer] Frank Valentini and I had a lot of heart-to-hearts, and I have a newfound respect for him and for how much he loves the show. I walked into his office thinking nobody could love GH as much as I do, but I can see that he really, honestly, wants this show to do well. And he got to know me a little better, as well. We can now see where the other is coming from, and we had never had that opportunity. We’d never had that kind of a meeting. So that was awesome."

Lars Slind to Appear on 'Days of our Lives' Today

Actor Lars Slind: Photo Credit Carlos Arias
Actor Lars Slind (The Cavanaughs) will appear on the February 4 episode of Days of our Lives. Slind has been cast in the role of Dean.

"He is a likable character if not perfect," Slind revealed to Serial Scoop.  "Not the brightest tool in the shed and a bit of a hot head, but he has feelings. You'll see him fumble and stumble through greetings and a romantic scenario. Apparently working as a corrections officer doesn't require the greatest mental facilities."

Also in today's episode of Days, JJ (Casey Moss) comes to Gabi's (Camila Banus) rescue when she needs it most. Will Dean be interacting with this twosome? Stay tuned!

Kate Mansi Leaving 'Days of our Lives'

Actress Kate Mansi, who first appeared on Days of our Lives as Abigail Deveraux in March 2011, has vacated her popular role on the NBC soap opera. I first hinted about Mansi's exit in September, and reported in November that the performer slated to leave daytime was from Days of our Lives. I can now finally reveal the actress in question is Mansi.

Jillian Clare Is Not Returning to 'Days of our Lives'

Jillian Clare at the 6th Annual Indie Series Awards on April 1, 2015.
Jillian Clare played the role of Abigail Deveraux on NBC soap opera Days of our Lives in 2003-2004 as a pre-teen. She has since gone on to star in a number of films (Alien Abduction, The Kitchen), primetime series (Suburgatory, Castle), and played starring roles in multiple web series (Acting Dead, Miss Behave). The busy actress won an Indie Series Award in 2014 for her work in Clutch, and has been nominated four other times. And now she is suddenly the subject of daytime casting gossip. The rumor mill has been running wild with speculation since last night, when a poster at a popular message board claimed the Clare had been asked to return to Days. This led to speculation that Clare would reprise the role of Abby, taking over from current actress Kate Mansi, or possibly playing a whole new character altogether.

With no new daytime soap episodes since Wednesday, it appears some viewers let their imaginations create new storylines to focus on. But to clear it up, Clare has not been asked to return to Days of our Lives. And if she ever is someday, Serial Scoop will let you know.

If you haven't been following the mad-talented Clare's post-Days work, you are missing out. I highly recommend her hilarious performance as a ghost in ISA best comedy winner, Acting Dead.

Our web series, Serial Scoop Now, spoke to Clare on the red carpet at the Indie Series Awards in April. Check it out in the clip below.

Brandon Beemer Replaces Jason Cook on 'Days of our Lives' as Shawn, Again

Brandon Beemer is returning to Days of our Lives.
Last month, I teased an actor's return to a legacy role, and said the arrival would "really be déjà vu for viewers." The actor in that blind item was Brandon Beemer, who is returning to Days of our Lives as Shawn Brady, replacing Jason Cook in the role for the second time.

Cook played Shawn from 1999 to 2006, when Beemer took over for two years. Cook returned to the soap last month just in time for its 50th anniversary but his visit was only intended to be short-term. With Days wanting to keep the character around, they cast Beemer in the role once again.

Since leaving Days in 2008, Beemer has starred on The Bold and the Beautiful as Owen Knight, Dirty Soap on E!, and appeared in CSI: Miami and The Stafford Project.

A Spokesperson for Days of our Lives confirms Beemer will debut on January 19, 2016.
