Vanessa Williams Lands Lead Role in Star Jones Drama 'Satan's Sisters'

Tony, Grammy, and Emmy nominated singer/actress Vanessa Williams has signed on to play the lead role in VH1’s upcoming drama inspired by Star Jones' 2011 book “Satan’s Sisters: A Novel of Fiction.” Set in the bright lights of daytime television, the fireworks start every weekday at noon when the hosts of The Lunch Hour -- a long-running popular TV talk show -- discuss life, love, family, politics, and gossip. Williams will play the role of Maxine, the creator and host of “The Lunch Hour;” a formidable, powerful, and decisive woman, but fears she's being put out to pasture.

Slated for a 2017 premiere, Satan's Sisters will focus on Maxine and her co-hosts, five women with very different points of view, are best friends and sisters...while they're on TV. But behind the scenes, they are “Satan's Sisters” -- a backstage world filled with power struggles, personal demons, diva fits, love affairs, man troubles, cat fights...and cocktails.

Williams has conquered the musical charts, Broadway, music videos, television and motion pictures. She has sold millions of albums worldwide and has achieved critical acclaim as an actress on stage, in film and on television. She is also the recipient of numerous nominations, honors, and awards including Screen Actors Guild, Golden Globe and NAACP Image awards. Williams received three Emmy nominations playing the role of Wilhelmina Slater on the hit series, “Ugly Betty.” She most recently appeared in the final season of Desperate Housewives, 666 Park Avenue, guest-starring roles on Royal Pains and The Good Wife. Williams also received rave reviews in the New York, Los Angeles and Lifetime Television productions of “The Trip to Bountiful,” opposite Cicely Tyson.

Executive producers for Satan's Sisters are Josh Berman, Star Jones, Suzanne de Passe, Madison Jones, and Susan Levison. Writers for the series are Amy Engelberg and Wendy Engelberg, who also serve as executive producers. Suzanne Coston serves as co-executive producer. The series is a co-production with Sony Pictures Television.

Zero (Adam Senn) finally declares his love for Jude (Brent Antonello) on the Monday, February 8 episode of Hit the Floor airing on VHI.

However, don't get too excited just yet. Although Jude clearly reciprocates those feelings, he tells Zero that love is not enough. Jude needs someone he can count on in his life. He needs a man who will be there for him in every way. Can Zero be that man for him?

Will Zero finally let his guard down and stop worrying what the world thinks about him? Zero better watch out, or he just may lose his chance with Jude forever.  Lucas (Jonathan Bennett) is on the scene, and he isn't going away.

'Hit The Floor' Season 3 Premieres January 18 on VH1

VH1 primetime serial Hit The Floor returns for a third season of drama on Monday, January 18 at 10 p.m. ET/PT.

"The much anticipated season three premiere of VH1's hit series Hit The Floor will deliver the fiery drama and plot twists that our audience loves," said Susan Levison, EVP of Programming & Development for VH1. "We want to thank the show's fans for their incredible support on social media for this exciting new chapter."

The series has pulled impressive ratings during the first two seasons, finishing as the #1 new scripted series of the summer on cable among Adults 18-49 in its debut season and as the #1 ad-supported scripted drama on cable among women 18-49 in Season 2. Hit The Floor has also been a magnet for fans on social platforms, consistently ranking amongst the Top 10 most social shows on TV Monday nights on Twitter.

'Hindsight' Renewed For Second Season By VH1

VH1 has picked up a second season of the critically acclaimed scripted series Hindsight. The first season finale aired on VH1 March 11th. Hindsight stars Laura Ramsey as Becca, who, on the eve of her second wedding in 2015, is having misgivings about her life, her career, and her husband-to-be, Andy (Nick Clifford). Suddenly, she is transported back in time twenty years to the morning of her first wedding day in 1995, when she's about to marry Sean (Craig Horner), a bad-boy artist who is all wrong for her. Becca has the opportunity to fix all of her mistakes and make the 'right' decisions the second time around - and her first move is to reconnect with her former best friend Lolly (Sarah Goldberg), with whom she had a falling out many years ago. But soon enough, Becca discovers there's no sure-fire way to make the right choices in life - even knowing everything she thinks she knows now. One decision may have the power to drastically alter not just Becca's future but the future of the people she loves the most.

"Our viewers have fallen in love with Hindsight," said Susan Levison, EVP, Original Programming and Production, VH1. "From the characters and storytelling to the iconic music and fashion of the 90's, this is a quintessential VH1 show and we can't wait to see what Becca will do next. Hindsight, is the latest project driving VH1's successful foray into the scripted genre. The series comes on the heels of the network's original movie Drumline: A New Beat, which was the #1 non-sports telecast on cable of the night of its premiere on October 27th. VH1's hit scripted series Hit The Floor recently wrapped its second season as the number one ad-supported cable scripted drama among women 18-49, and is currently in production for season 3.

Hindsight is created by Emily Fox (Jane By Design), who also serves as executive producer along with John A. Norris (One Tree Hill). Carl Beverly and Sarah Timberman serve as executive producers for Timberman/Beverly (Masters Of Sex, Justified, Elementary, Odd Couple). Maggie Malina (Hit The Floor, CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story) also serves as executive producer as does Alexander A. Motlagh for POPfilms (CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story, Finding Carter). Susan Levison and Jill Holmes are executive producers for VH1.

'Hit The Floor' Starts Production on Season 3

VH1 begins production this week on the third season of its hit scripted series “Hit The Floor.” The hour-long drama series explores the exciting and scandalous world of professional basketball from the perspective of the Devil Girls dancers, and the Los Angeles Devils players, owners and coaches. The third season of “Hit the Floor” will premiere later this year.

Special guest stars this season on “Hit The Floor” will include Billy Baldwin playing Jackson Everett, a billionaire bachelor looking to cause trouble in Devils Arena, Lynn Whitfield returning as Jelena's mother, Vanessa Howard, Andy Buckley (“Veep,” “The Office”) playing Adam Oberman, an ambitious league official, and Jonathan Bennett (“Mean Girls,” “Dancing with the Stars”) as Lucas, a sports agent who causes friction between Jude and Zero.

'The Breaks' Movie Coming to VH1, Inspired by Journalist Dan Charnas' Best-Selling Book 'The Big Payback'


Continuing its success in the scripted arena, VH1 announces The Breaks (Working Title) as its next original movie project. Inspired by journalist Dan Charnas’ book “The Big Payback,” a narrative history of the hip-hop business, The Breaks (WT) will make its television debut written, directed and executive produced by Seith Mann (The Wire, The Walking Dead, Homeland). VH1 plans to start principal photography in Spring 2015 with a premiere date set for Fall 2015. The Breaks (WT) has the potential to become a series after its movie premiere.

The Breaks (WT) will chronicle the journey of Nikki, David and Deevee, three friends united by their love of hip-hop, as they work to make their big mark in the music industry. The film will travel viewers back to the summer of 1990 in New York City where the music industry’s artists and hustlers intersect in the dance clubs and the street corners of the still crime-ridden city. Nikki Jones is a brilliant recent grad who abandoned a scholarship to law school to pursue her dream of becoming a record exec. Her boyfriend, David Aaron, is the scrappy son of a legendary music producer who is unwilling to rest on his father’s laurels and notorious reputation. DeeVee is an aspiring producer on the hunt to find the next big rapper on the come-up.

Stephanie Moseley Dead at 30 In Murder-Suicide

The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed in a statement late Monday, December 8, that rapper Earl Hayes and his wife Stephanie Moseley were found dead that morning inside the Park La Brea luxury residences in L.A.

"When officers arrived at the apartment complex they heard additional shots being fired," the statement read. "LAPD’s SWAT officers responded to the location and discovered two victims inside the apartment suffering from gunshot wounds. The initial investigation revealed that 34-year-old Earl Warren Hayes shot his wife, 30-year-old Stephanie Elyse Moseley to death and then took his own life. The Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced both Mr. Hayes and Ms. Moseley dead at the scene."

Moseley, a dancer and actress featured on VH1's drama series Hit the Floor, was reported dead Monday after a suspected murder-suicide involving Hayes.

VH1 Original Movie 'Drumline: A New Beat' Draws 3.3 Million Viewers

Drumline: A New Beat was watched by 3.3 million viewers on Monday night.
Last night's premiere of the VH1 Original Movie Drumline: A New Beat did not miss a beat drawing in 2.4 million total viewers and averaging a 1.4 in the key Adult 18-49 demo during its 9 p.m. premiere. When combined with the 11:30 p.m. encore, 3.3 million total viewers tuned in to watch the Atlanta A&T drumline burn up the field Monday night.

VH1 Movie 'Drumline: A New Beat' Premieres Tonight, Stars Alexandra Shipp

VH1 original movie Drumline: A New Beat premieres Monday, October 27 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. The film stars Alexandra Shipp (House of Anubis, Days of our Lives) as Danielle "Dani" Bolton, a brilliant drummer whose goal is to become the first female percussion section leader in the famous Atlanta A&T drumline.

Also starring are Leonard Roberts, reprising his role as Sean Taylor--Sean comes on board as the new A&T Band Director looking to make a mark; Jordan Callowa as the (extremely gifted, yet cocky freshman Jayven Lapierre, and Dani's love interest; LeToya Luckett as the beautiful, determined Atlanta A&T Dean of Students, Dr. Nia Phillips, who has former romantic ties to Sean Taylor); and Nick Cannon who is executive producing the movie and reprising his role as Devon Miles in a cameo.

Drumline: A New Beat will capture the sound and spirit of the first film while welcoming a whole new class to the Atlanta A & T drumline. The story follows Dani, an upper class Brooklyn girl who defies her parents in order to attend Atlanta A&T so she can join - and revitalize - their once-prominent drumline. Dani's quest to become the first female section leader of the drumline in the school's history will be hampered by upperclassmen (including her cousin, Tyree), her feelings for fellow band mate and rival, Jayven, and the school's crosstown competitors.

VH1 has released a first look clip for its new original movie Drumline: A New Beat starring Alexandra Shipp (House of Anubis, Days of our Lives), who plays Danielle "Dani" Bolton, a brilliant drummer whose goal is to become the first female percussion section leader in the famous Atlanta A&T drumline (Shipp will also star in Lifetime's new Aaliyah bio pic).

Also starring are Leonard Roberts (reprising his role as Sean Taylor--Sean comes on board as the new A&T Band Director looking to make a mark), Jordan Calloway (extremely gifted, yet cocky freshman Jayven Lapierre and Dani's love interest), LeToya Luckett (beautiful, determined Atlanta A&T Dean of Students--Dr. Nia Phillips has former romantic ties to Sean Taylor), and Nick Cannon who is executive producing the movie and reprising his role as Devon Miles in a cameo. VH1 Movie 'Drumline: A New Beat Read' Welcomes Six Lead Actors

VH1's original movie Drumline: A New Beat welcomes actors Letoya Luckett, Alexandra Shipp, Jordan Calloway, Jeff Pierre, Jasmine Burke and Scott Shilstone to its cast, along with the previously announced star of the original movie, Drumline, Leonard Roberts. Executive producer Nick Cannon also reprises the role of Devon Miles in a cameo appearance. Following the ratings success of last year's CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story, VH1 is producing the original movie in partnership with Fox Television Studios and targeting a Fall 2014 premiere.
