Hayden Byerly plays Callie's younger brother, Jude, on the hit ABC Family serial The Fosters. Jude is a sensitive boy who was living with an abusive foster father until Callie, with help from some powerful allies, was able to rescue him from his sad situation. Byerly met with a few media outlets recently to talk about the show and preview what's ahead. The Fosters returns for its summer premiere Monday, June 16 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Check out what Byerly had to say below:

How does it feel to be an inspiration for so many young viewers that are watching the series and connecting with Jude?
Hayden Byerly:
It feels super special, especially as a kid my age, at 13 years old for people to say that they really connect with me, and really understand my role. It’s super cool. It means a lot. It’s very special and important to me. I think it’s a very big thing to be able to play something on T.V., but have it be so real that it connects with so many different people on such a personal level.
