ABC Family Announces Time-Slot Changes for 'Chasing Life' and 'Becoming Us'


ABC Family has announced time-slot changes for series Chasing Life and Becoming Us.

Season Two of Chasing Life will premiere on Monday, July 6th at 9 p.m. ET/PT, following The Fosters. April will try to live life to the fullest despite her recent relapse. From wedding dress shopping to a surprise trip, and a bachelorette party ending in jail time, April is determined to enjoy everything. The rest of the Carver family must deal with the effects of April’s illness and choices as the medical bills start to mount up. Meanwhile, questions arise about a mystery surrounding their father’s death.

Critically acclaimed Becoming Us moves to 10 p.m. ET/PT, following Chasing Life, starting Monday, July 6th. This groundbreaking docuseries centers on a teenager named Ben who is learning to live with his dad becoming a woman. The series follows Ben, his family and his friends, as they support one another through this unexpected journey and navigate their new world with Charlie now living as Carly. The show is a generational story of a loving family and circle of friends supporting one another through this unfamiliar situation.

Ratings: 'Chasing Life' Christmas Special Hits Series High in Adults 18-34, 'Pretty Little Liars' Wins Young Females for 108th Consecutive Episode

With its Christmas special, "How the A Stole Christmas," Pretty Little Liars ranked as Tuesday's #1 cable TV telecast at 8 o'clock for the 108th-consecutive original telecast in Females 12-34 (1.2 million/2.6 rating) - each telecast since its June 2010 series debut - 60th in Adults 18-34 (878,000/1.3 rating), 67th in Women 18-34 (726,000/2.1 rating) and 71st in Viewers 12-34 (1.4 million/1.5 rating).

Overall, the special stood as Tuesday's #1 scripted TV telecast in Females 12-34 and was the #2 cable TV telecast in Women 18-34 and Viewers 12-34, behind only the series finale of FX's Sons of Anarchy.

With a strong 328,348 tweets, Pretty Little Liars was Tuesday's #2 most tweeted TV series telecast, coming in just behind the series finale of Sons of Anarchy (330,415). Further, a Twitter TV audience of 3.0 million people saw the tweets, which were sent by nearly 118,000 unique authors, generating 13.0 million impressions.

In the episode titled "Locks of Love," April’s grandparents (guest stars Ed Asner and Marion Ross) stir up trouble when they pay a visit, and the Carvers celebrate an early family Christmas. The full contents of Leo’s cryptic voicemail are revealed, leading April and Leo to rethink their last goodbye. In an attempt to help her friend cope with the effects of chemo, Beth helps April with a makeover, or two.

ABC Family Reveals January Premiere Dates: 'Switched at Birth' Follows 'Pretty Little Liars' on Its New Night, Tuesday, January 6

Switched at Birth moves to Tuesdays starting January 6, following the return of Pretty Little Liars.
ABC Family will kick off the New Year with all-new episodes of returning original hit series and fan favorites Pretty Little Liars, Switched at Birth, Chasing Life and The Fosters, in addition to comedies Melissa & Joey and Baby Daddy, all set to premiere in January 2015, with three nights of original programming.

The hit ABC Family original series Pretty Little Liars returns on Tuesday, January 6 at 8 p.m. ET/PT with the Liars still reeling from Mona’s death and determined to prove Alison’s guilt. Pretty Little Liars won six Teen Choice Awards in 2014, including Choice TV Show, Choice TV Actress Drama – Lucy Hale, Choice TV Actor Drama – Ian Harding, Choice Summer TV Actress – Ashley Benson, Choice Summer TV Actor – Tyler Blackburn and Choice TV Breakout Star: Female – Sasha Pieterse. ABC Family will air a special Pretty Little Liars marathon on Tuesday, January 6, from 12 p.m. – 8 p.m. ET/PT, leading up to the premiere. An all-new special holiday episode of Pretty Little Liars, airing during ABC Family’s 25 Days of Christmas, premieres Tuesday, December 9th at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

ABC Family Renews 'Chasing Life' for Second Season


ABC Family has picked up its original serial Chasing Life for a second season, it was announced today by Karey Burke, Executive Vice President, Programming and Development.

"Through the laughter and the tears, our audience has connected with the characters and relationships in Chasing Life and we are thrilled to continue telling April’s courageous story," said Burke. "Chasing Life has found a home here."

Chasing Life is a one-hour drama that follows twenty-something April (Italia Ricci), a smart, charismatic and quick witted aspiring journalist. When not pursuing the latest scoop, April tries to balance her ambitious career with her family, which includes her widowed mom Sara (Mary Page Keller), rebellious little sister Brenna (Haley Ramm) and her grandmother (Rebecca Schull). In an unexpected twist of fate, April lands in the hospital where her estranged uncle George works as an oncologist, and she learns the devastating news that she has cancer.

The series follows April through her journey in the face of this daunting revelation, during a time in her life when the challenges of finding love and success would be enough to keep any girl occupied. But April is determined to fight and refuses to give up her dreams and goals. Along the way, she’ll find new reserves of strength and passion within and discover that facing death may really be the only way to truly live.

Chasing Life is adapted from the successful Televisa Spanish-language Mexican television series Terminales.

Ed Asner and Marion Ross to Guest Star in 'Chasing Life' Christmas Episode

"25 Days of Christmas" Begins December 1 on ABC Family


ABC Family's "25 Days of Christmas" returns with 25-continuous days of holiday-themed entertainment for the whole family. From December 1 - 25, viewers can ring in the holidays with new holiday episodes of original series, holiday specials and returning favorites.

This year, "25 Days of Christmas" will feature original holiday episodes of comedy series Melissa and Joey, and Baby Daddy. And for the first time, holiday episodes of drama series Pretty Little Liars, The Fosters, Switched at Birth and Chasing Life will also make their debut during the week of December 8.

The holiday cheer continues with the network-television premiere of the delightful holiday movie Arthur Christmas, featuring the voices of James McAvoy, Hugh Laurie and Jim Broadbent as Santa, on Saturday, December 6 (9:00- 11:00 p.m. ET/PT) and the ABC Family debut of the new Christmas special "Toy Story That Time Forgot" on Sunday, December 7 (8:00- 8:30 p.m. ET/PT)

On Sunday, December 21, the network will air a Rankin Bass holiday classics marathon, featuring such beloved programs as The Little Drummer Boy (1:00 - 1:30 p.m. ET/PT), Santa Claus is Comin' to Town (3:00-4:00 p.m. ET/PT), and The Year Without a Santa Claus (4:00 - 5:00 p.m. ET/PT). Other returning favorites include National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (Monday, December 1, 6:00-8:00 p.m.), holiday classic Elf (Monday, December 1, 8:00-10:00 p.m. ET/PT,) and a The Santa Clause double feature (begins Tuesday, December 2, 8:00 p.m. ET/PT).

'Pretty Little Liars' Ranks as Tuesday's #1 TV Telecast in Prime for the 5th-Consecutive Week in Women 18-34 and Females 12-34

Continuing to dominate its cable competition, Pretty Little Liars ranked as Tuesday's #1 cable TV telecast at 8 o'clock for the 101st-consecutive original telecast in Females 12-34 (1.2 million/2.6 rating) - each telecast since its June 2010 series debut - 53rd in Adults 18-34 (1.0 million/1.5 rating), 60th in Women 18-34 (830,000/2.5 rating), 56th in Women 18-49 (1.0 million/1.6 rating) and 64th in Viewers 12-34 (1.4 million/1.5 rating).

Moreover, Pretty Little Liars qualified as Tuesday's #1 Prime TV telecast in Women 18-34 and Females 12-34 for the 5th-consecutive week, was the night's #1 original cable TV telecast in Adults 18-34 and Viewers 12-34 and cable TV's #1 telecast in Women 18-49.

Celebrating the coveted 100th-episode milestone, Pretty Little Liars ranked as Tuesday’s #1 cable TV telecast in the hour for the 100th-consecutive original telecast in Females 12-34 (1.2 million/2.5 rating) – every telecast since its June 2010 series launch – 52nd in Adults 18-34 (946,000/1.4 rating), 59th in Women 18-34 (784,000/2.3 rating), 55th in Women 18-49 (1.0 million/1.6 rating) and 63rd in Viewers 12-34 (1.4 million/1.5 rating).

PLL stood as Tuesday’s #1 TV telecast in Women 18-34 and Females 12-34, as the #1 cable TV telecast in Women 18-49 and was the #1 original cable TV telecast in Adults 18-34.

'Chasing Life' Preview: Every Family Has a Few Skeletons in the Closet

April still struggles to tell Dominic about her cancer, but she opens up about the skeletons in the Carver family closet in "The Family That Lies Together," an all-new episode of Chasing Life, airing Tuesday, July 8th at 9 p.m. ET/PT on ABC Family.

Dominic takes April to see a psychic for fun, but the results disturb both of them, leading Dominic to come clean to April about a family secret. When her own family secrets become too much for her to bear alone, April enlists Dominic’s help in learning more about her “sister,” Natalie.

Meanwhile, April receives an official diagnosis from George and Sara’s mounting concern for April’s health leads to a confrontation.

'Chasing Life' Preview: I'll Sleep When I’m Dead

April faces her first bone marrow biopsy and begins to feel overwhelmed by her responsibilities at work and home in "I'll Sleep When I’m Dead," an all-new episode of Chasing Life, airing Tuesday, July 1st at 9 p.m. ET/PT on ABC Family.

April finds it harder to juggle the increasing severity of her symptoms with her obligations at work and her attempts to be a supportive daughter and sister. After missing an important appointment, George urges April to get her priorities straight. April also learns more about Leo Hendrie, but Leo jumps to conclusions about April's motives.

Meanwhile, much to her own surprise, Brenna bonds with Greer, a popular girl at school.

'Chasing Life' Preview: Blood Cancer Sex Carrots

Following tonight's episode of ABC Family serialized drama Pretty Little Liars, stay tuned for a steamy new Chasing Life starting at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Will April jeopardize her relationship with Dominic when she believes some office rumors?

In "Blood Cancer Sex Carrots," as things begin to heat up with Dominic, April second-guesses the status of their relationship when she learns he has a reputation as the office playboy. To help take her mind off of Dominic and to start facing the reality of her symptoms, she volunteers for an assignment at work about a supposed cancer-curing miracle juice and finds a confidant and support in the juice maker, Gerald (guest star Sam Anderson). Meanwhile, Sara makes a surprise connection with one of her therapy patients and hosts an awkward dinner for her new boyfriend, Ben, to meet the family.

'Chasing Life' Premieres Tonight on ABC Family

One twenty-something woman's life is about to change forever in the new ABC Family original series Chasing Life, premiering Tuesday, June 10 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

April (Italia Ricci) is a smart, charismatic and quick witted twenty-something aspiring journalist. When not pursuing the latest scoop, April tries to balance her ambitious career with her family, which includes her widowed mom Sara (Mary Page Keller), rebellious little sister Brenna (Haley Ramm) and her grandmother (Rebecca Schull). We meet April at a pivotal moment in her life: she’s landed a fantastic opportunity to impress her hard-nosed Boston newspaper editor and an office romance with her super-sexy co-worker Dominic (Richard Brancatisano) is just beginning to blossom. In an unexpected twist of fate, April lands in the hospital where her estranged uncle, George (Steven Weber), works as an oncologist, and she learns the devastating news that she has cancer.
