Carolyn Hennesy Shares Holiday Plans & Memories, Will Perform with Nelson Aspen in January Show in L.A.

Hi, Serial Scoop! You guys gave me such kind coverage after the October premiere of my new cabaret offering, "A Showbiz Scrapbook" at NYC's beautiful GreenRoom 42, I wanted to alert you to its upcoming engagement at Hollywood's crazy-popular theatrical venue, Rockwell Table & Stage. As an entertainment reporter, I spend a lot of time in LA during Awards season, so I was keen to schedule this performance for Thursday, January 30...right in between my coverage of the Grammys and the Oscars.

As many of you may already know, given my own long history in daytime TV, I often welcome stars of the genre to join me onstage for special interactive performances. These have included talented folks like Anita Gillette, Shelly Burch, Ilene Kristen and Monica Horan. For January, I'm excited to tell you it will be one of my very favorite soap opera scene stealers: the lovely Emmy and Indie Series Award winning Carolyn Hennesy....known to millions of General Hospital fans as lawyer Diane Miller. I first noticed Carolyn guest starring on an episode of Reba and was smitten. She's one of the main reasons GH is on my DVR! I've gotten to learn so much about her life away from Port Charles: she's a New York Times best-selling author, passionate advocate for animals, and a trapeze artist. Now THAT is a multi-hyphenate!

From my own years in Soap Land (working at Search for Tomorrow, Another World and One Life to Live), Christmas was always a favorite time of year. It started weeks in advance for us, since we were shooting ahead...and the studio holiday parties of the 1980s were the stuff of legend! My mentor, Mary Stuart (Search for Tomorrow's Jo and Guiding Light's Meta), celebrated the season like no one I'd ever met before or since, and her influence remains forever inside me at this festive time of the year.

So in honor of the Yuletide, here's a little Q&A I had with Carolyn for you to enjoy.

What have you got planned for this holiday season?
Heading to Zurich before Christmas to see Sabrina Kern (co-star, St. Agatha) in the Swiss national musical. Then home to hibernate over the holiday with family and friends.

Don't Miss Sebastian La Cause in 'The Unauthorized Musical Parody of The Devil Wears Prada'

Sebastian La Cause is nominated for an Indie Series Award for the fourth year in a row.  He's currently starring on stage in "The Unauthorized Musical Parody of The Devil Wears Prada."
“Gird Your Loins!” The Boss from Hell is back as Rockwell Table & Stage presents "The Unauthorized Musical Parody of The Devil Wears Prada," running through the end of April.  While you’re out getting the boss’s coffee and dry cleaning and get your tickets on sale now.

Hot on the heels of its wildly successful Unauthorized Musical Parodies of Scream, Cruel Intentions, Clueless and Home Alone, Rockwell weaves in its signature brand of campiness and musical zaniness to the hit 2006 movie about the boss everyone loves to hate.   Kelley Jakle and Lana McKissack alternately portray Andy, the fresh-faced assistant who must endure her employer’s wrath in the fast paced world of high fashion.   This all-new, live parody production was co-adapted by Ray Wetmore and directed by Tye Blue.

In addition to its seam-splitting hijinks and hilarious musical score, Rockwell pushes things over the top once again. Actors Drew Droege (Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse) and John Flynn (Upright Citizen’s Brigade) alternately play the maniacal role of Miranda Priestly, the devilishly demanding and narcissistic editor-in-chief of fashion bible Runway Magazine.

“Everyone can relate to how crazy it can be to work for the boss from hell,” said Executive Producer and Co-Adapter Kate Pazakis.  “Our Unauthorized Musical Parody of The Devil Wears Prada dials the craziness up a notch, leaving you laughing down the catwalk.

Rounding out the cast is multiple Indie Series Award winner Sebastian La Cause (Orange Is The New Black, Homeland) as Christian Thompson, the charming and sexy writer that seduces Andy during Paris Fashion Week.

"This is what LA theater is all about for me, these small unique experiences that surround the audience and immerse them in a fun world," La Cause revealed to Serial Scoop. "I'm having a blast doing this show and working with such talented people. Don't miss it!"

La Cause only appears in the Friday and Saturday shows. If you're in Los Angeles next week for the 7th Annual Indie Series Awards, this would be a great event to add to your calendar.

Tickets are on sale now for Thursday-Saturday night shows and Sunday brunch matinees through late April. Rockwell: Table & Stage is located in Los Feliz at 1714 N. Vermont Ave, Los Angeles.

For more information and to buy tickets, visit www.rockwell-la.com.
