ROBERT SCOTT WILSON: In one word? Redemption. Maybe it’s not redemption … one word is very difficult. You know, it’s something tangible that we’ve all been a victim to. Whether we’ve been cheated on or hurt, whatever … we all have a little piece of Ben Weston inside of us. I’m not saying we’re all killers or willing to do things that are that extreme, but we’ve been all hurt. And sooner or later there’s a boiling point. We all try to stuff down our emotions, but they’re going to come out.  And the longer you stuff them down, the worse it’s going to get. So, be true to yourself.

Read our interview below.

SERIAL SCOOP: We know you can’t share too much of the upcoming storyline, but if you had to summarize in one word what your character has been up to, what would that word be?
ERIC MARTSOLF: Theresa would be the word. That is what he has been up to. Figuratively. Literally. He’s all up in Theresa’s grill right now, and it’s a dangerous game he’s playing right now because Theresa has enabled him to do some awful things in the past. You know. That is why they got together in the first place. They were both ok with each other’s substitutes and alcoholism – forget this nice little town of Salem where everyone is holding hands and taking bubble baths together. Let’s just spit on it. Let’s just be together and do what we want. They are almost like the anti-soap couple. And now the writers have turned this around and said, ‘Here’s two flawed people – what if they raise a child and have true love together? Why not? You know, life isn’t perfect. I don’t think a soap opera is about showing a perfect world. It’s about escapism and the world is not perfect. So I think they’re perfect pairs in the same perfect world, and I find myself rooting for them because I want to believe that two people can forgive one another, fix one another and even being so deeply cut, they can mend one another. It’s a nice love story.

Day of 'Days' Interview with Josh Taylor

The annual "Day of Days" event was held on Saturday, November 14 at Universal Citywalk. Mandy Lynn Denaux covered the event for Serial Scoop and chatted with the cast of Days of our Lives about the 50th anniversary of the iconic soap opera, and much more. Josh Taylor–who plays Roman Brady–shared his thoughts on how he has been impacted by the recent behind the scenes changes at the show, which character he would like to be if he wasn't playing Roman, and what it has been like for him to be a part of this historic anniversary celebration.

Read our interview below.

SERIAL SCOOP: We know you can’t share too much of the upcoming storyline, but if you had to summarize in one word what your character has been up to, what would that word be?
JOSH TAYLOR: Challenging. And wonderful.

SERIAL SCOOP: What has been the biggest shift for you with the regime change?
JOSH TAYLOR: Huge. We’ve been talking about this … and I can’t go into it too much, but the show has been kicking ass. There’s just so much more of a …. … I mean I get scripts where I don’t have to change a thing. I have stuff to do that is incredibly real. Stuff with my mom and my sister. It's so much clearer...at the cop shop, you never knew who was a cop or who was in charge. And since the new writers have come in, we know who is in charge. We brought in JJ, which has been great. And we have the commissioner, and the detectives and the cops. We know the hierarchy and that makes storyline.

SERIAL SCOOP: If you could play any other character on Days, regardless of age or gender, who would you want to play?
JOSH TAYLOR: JJ. The characters have a lot in common … he’s a lot like I was in the past and I feel like he’s a son. JJ is a younger version of Roman.

SERIAL SCOOP: What’s it been like to be a part of the 50th anniversary celebrations?
JOSH TAYLOR: Extraordinary! I’m so happy for Kenny … [executive producer] Ken Corday . I mean his mom and dad … this was their baby. Then Kenny came in, and he was a musician … and extraordinary musician. He came in and took a big responsibility, which he wasn’t necessarily looking for. And he’s guided this show all the way to 50 years. His mom and dad I know would be proud. So I’m especially happy for Kenny. He and I are good friends, and I’m just thrilled for him. But I’m also thrilled to be a part of it. To celebrate the 50th and the ratings are kicking ass … higher than they’ve been in two years. All of our work is being rewarded. All the writers work. All the directors’ work. Albert’s [Alarr, co-executive producer[ work. Josh’s [Griffith, co-head writer) work. Janet’s [Spellman-Drucker, producer] work. Dena’s [Higley, co-head writer) work. It’s good to see all of that rewarded. I’ve been on this show a while and I’ve never seen it like this.
