Alison Sweeney on the Death of Will Horton on 'Days of our Lives': It Still Makes Me Angry When I Think About It

photo:AP
Former Days of our Lives actress Alison Sweeney spoke with Michael Logan in the latest issue of TV Guide Magazine, and had some very interesting things to say about her former daytime show.

Sweeney has remained busy with her Hallmark movies, her directing duties at General Hospital, as well as her writing career. Logan asked what separated her from other actors who are waiting at home for the phone to ring, and Sweeney replied, "A lot of actors feel entitled. They just assume the phone is going to ring. As I was easing out of DAYS, I was shocked at how the young ones would show up not having bothered to memorize their lines. I never expected to be the kind of person to say that, but it's true."

Rumors continue to persist that Sweeney's on-screen son Will Horton is returning from the dead, and Logan wondered if that would entice her to return to the show. The actress replied, "I would certainly consider it. I thought it was a huge mistake to kill Will, especially for the show's 50th anniversary. It still makes me angry when I think about it."

What do you make of Sweeney's comments? Who are these young performers who didn't come to the studio prepared with their lines memorized? Do you believe that Will Horton will return to Salem alive?  Will Sweeney return to Days of our Lives? Sound off below!

'Murder She Baked: 'A Deadly Recipe' Premieres June 19 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries

Photo Credit: Copyright 2016 Crown Media United States, LLC/Photographer: Katie Yu
Murder, She Baked: A DEADLY RECIPE premieres Sunday,June 19 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. The film stars Alison Sweeney (Days of our Lives, The Biggest Loser), Cameron Mathison (All My Children, Entertainment Tonight), and Barbara Niven (Cedar Cove)

Bakery owner Hannah Swensen (Sweeney) just can't keep her hands out of the batter when murder stirs things up in Lake Eden, Minnesota, leaving the sheriff dead, a deputy accused, and a killer on the loose.

For Hannah, life seems to be lacking a certain flavor lately. Maybe it's the local sheriff's election that's got her down. For years, Sheriff Grant's been the iron hand in town. But now, Hannah's brother-in-law Bill is giving the old blowhard the fight of his long, dubious career - and Grant's not taking it well, especially once the polls show Bill pulling ahead.

But before anyone can taste victory, things go sour. While Hannah's emptying the trash, she makes a very unappetizing discovery: Sheriff Grant's body in the Dumpster behind the high school where she's teaching her cooking class.

And as if that weren't bad enough, the poor man still has fudge frosting on his shirt from one of her cupcakes. The number one - and only - suspect is Bill, but Hannah's not swallowing it.

Plenty of people had reason to hate Sheriff Grant. Soon, Hannah's dishing up scandalous secrets, steaming hot betrayals, and enough intrigue to keep the gossip mill at The Cookie Jar going through several pots of decaf. And the closer Hannah gets to the truth, the closer she gets to finding the murderer with a calorie-laden, nasty recipe for silencing people.

Would Alison Sweeney Return to 'Days of our Lives'?

Alison Sweeney/Getty
In the latest issue of Soap Opera Digest, Alison Sweeney was asked if she missed playing her popular character of Sami Brady on Days of our Lives.

Sweeney told Digest, "Of course, I do! It's so hard for me. I miss Sami but I'm glad Sami is not in Salem now. From what I've heard, Salem seems very dangerous these days."

Would she consider making another appearance on the show if asked? "I would always consider it."

Do you think it's time for Sweeney to return to DAYS? She has a busy schedule, but should DAYS do everything it can to get her back?

Would love to hear what you think.

John Oliver Reunites 'Days of our Lives' Supercouple EJ & Sami on 'Last Week Tonight'

ABC News recently profiled 16-year-old refugee Nageen Mustafa, who traveled from her home in the war-torn Syrian town of Kobani to the Serbian border with Hungary. Bound to a wheel chair, the obstacles she has faced are unimaginable, and yet she is endlessly optimistic.

Her English is impeccable for a teenager who has never seen the inside of a classroom and who spent most of her childhood indoors, in a culture where she told us she was shunned for her disability. How did she learn to speak English so well? “At home with my favorite TV show, Days of our Lives,” she said, beaming. "I watched it for two years. I was waking up at 8 a.m. some days to watch it. That’s a great show. But they killed the main character that I loved!”

On Sunday's episode of Last Week Tonight on HBO, host John Oliver had a surprise for 16-year old Syrian refugee Nageen Mustafa. Mustafa told ABC she sad that the character of EJ DiMera (James Scott) had been killed off Days because EJ and Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney) were her favorite couple. To brighten Mustafa's day, Oliver reunited EJ and Sami in a special scene created just for the show.

"She loves Days of our Lives," Oliver explained. "Specifically, she loves EJ and Sami. Even after weeks of total hell, mortal danger and inhumane treatment, Nageen's biggest complaint is that the show actually killed off EJ, who was her favorite character. And, frankly, she's right to be upset. EJ and Sami were magic together. Yes, you could argue that EJ basically blackmailed Sami into marriage and then impregnanted her and then worked for Sami's arch nemesis, Nicole Walker, who he then also impregnated, and then he kidnapped Sami's baby and made her think it was dead so Sami shot him in the head, but you know what, that's the the kind of thing couples do."

Oliver then introduced the Sami and EJ reunion, in which EJ was alive and well and reunited with his true love. Watch the "Migrants and Refugees" segment below:

Alison Sweeney on The End of EJ & Sami: 'Lots of Great Romances End in Tragedy'

Sami said a tearful goodbye to EJ after his death.
In a new interview with TV Guide Magazine, Alison Sweeney shared her thoughts on leaving Days of our Lives and the role of Sami Brady DiMera after more than 21 years. When asked about the death of EJ DiMera (James Scott), Sweeney said, "With some time and perspective, I now see that lots of great romances end in tragedy."

Fans have wondered if EJ is really dead. The answer is yes, for now, at least as dead as soap characters get.

"Perhaps, EJami fans will eventually see it as an appropriate end for the characters," Sweeney continued. "They etched their place in love-story history by ending with tears. And for all those who were opposed to the EJ-Sami pairing, there's a poetic justice there, if you choose to look at it that way. Or maybe I'm just trying to find a silver lining. I've made my peace with it."

Sami and her children leave Salem next week for Hollywood now that studio execs want to get into "the Sami Brady business" after reading Will's (Guy Wilson) expose.

Abby and Ben Hit The Sheets, Jennifer Slaps Eve On 'Days of our Lives' (Mini Recap)

Abigail was thrilled to show a shirtless Ben what learned from EJ and Chad.
On Thursday's episode of Days of our Lives (October 2, 2014), Abigail Deveraux (Kate Mansi) went to bed with Ben Rogers (Robert Scott Wilson) and, thanks to lessons learned during trysts with Chad (Billy Flynn) and EJ (James Scott), she knew exactly how to please her new man. But who taught Ben how to please his woman?

Elsewhere, Jennifer Horton (Melissa Reeves) slapped Eve Baron Donovan Deveraux Larson (Kassie DePaiva) after Eve attacked her family.  Eve's daugter, Paige Larson (True O'Brien), wanted sex from JJ Deveraux (Casey Moss) but bringing up his Aunt Kayla's (Mary Beth Evans) rape didn't put him in the mood.

Ouch! That had to hurt.
Meanwhile, Sami DiMera (Alison Sweeney) confirmed to her twin, Eric Brady (Greg Vaughn), that she loved EJ, while EJ DiMera (James Scott) confirmed the same news to his ex-wife, Nicole Walker (Arianne Zucker). Sami and EJ seem so happy right now, doom is obviously just around the corner, especially since both actors are leaving the show. Is EJ going to die? Will Sami leave town? Does EJ fake his death so he can have a happy ending with Sami? So many questions, and it looks like October is the month we get the answers.

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: Billy Flynn on 'Days of our Lives' and Taking on the Role of Bad Boy Chad DiMera

Days of our Lives star Billy Flynn.
Actor Billy Flynn has taken Days of our Lives by storm since he joined the NBC daytime drama as the new Chad DiMera earlier this month. In his first three weeks, Flynn has held his own with some of Days' biggest stars--Alison Sweeney (Samantha DiMera), James Scott (EJ DiMera), Lauren Koslow (Kate Roberts) and Eileen Davidson (Kristin DiMera). Sparks have also flown between his character and Abigail Deveraux (Kate Mansi), which does not seem to bode well for Abby's blossoming romance with Ben Rogers (Robert Scott Wilson). Chad may want revenge for sins of the past but love is still in the air.

Serial Scoop spoke with Flynn this week, and the talented newcomer discussed his sex symbol status, and what it was like to come on board as the new face of Days' DiMera family. He also shared his thoughts on Chad's love life, and told us why Abigail Deveraux, and not Melanie Jonas (Molly Burnett), was the love of Chad's life. Flynn also previewed what's coming up in the weeks ahead on Days. Read our exclusive interview below:

SERIAL SCOOP: You are the hot new sex symbol on Days. What do you think is your sexiest feature?
BILLY FLYNN: I have to go with my eyes. That's what everyone else is saying it is, so I’ll go with that.

SERIAL SCOOP: I have to go deep here. If you can’t pick your eyes, what other feature would you choose?
BILLY FLYNN: [Laughs] I don't know, I guess I don't find myself sexy. A lot of people probably don’t based on the Twitter comments I've gotten.
