'Days of our Lives' Celebrates 50 Years of History By Changing It: Xander is Alexandros

Why does Days of Our Lives make it so hard to enjoy it? Days has an active fan base that spends year after year forgiving it for every major blunder it makes, and keeps watching when the latest "play to save Days" doesn't pan out.

On the April 9 episode of Days we learned that Xander Cook was not Alexander Kiriakis, son of Justin Kiriakis and Anjelica Curtis, as believed by viewers after Victor Kiriakis called him "Alexander" the day before. Well, Victor DID call him Alexandros at the end of the show. But what other relative does Victor have with that name? Instead, Xander was revealed to be Victor's heretofore unknown nephew, Alexandros Kiriakis, Victor's brother's son. Is he Justin's brother?

Viewers will remember that back in the day the reason why Victor was so obsessed with Justin was because he was Victor's only living relative. This was also why he was later obsessed with controlling the lives of his children, Bo and Isabella.

Why does Days of our Lives insist on inventing characters that didn't exist, when it has 50 years of history to use? Including a nephew of Victor's named Alexander.

'Days of our Lives': Xander Cook is Alexander Kiriakis (Or Not)

On the April 8, 2015 episode of Days of Our Lives Xander Cook was revealed to be the long absent Alexander Kirikis. Alex is the biological son of Justin Kiriakis (Wally Kurth) and Anjelica Curtis, the role last played by Judith Chapman (Gloria on The Young and the Restless).

"Good to see you, Alexander," said Victor Kiriakis to Xander at the end of the episode. "Welcome home."

Alexander is a legacy character I have long wanted to return to the Days canvas. He is a blank slate that the 50-year-old soap can do anything with at this point. Since his biological mother is Anjelica, there is the added wrinkle that she was Jack Deveraux's (Matthew Ashford) step-mother at one time. Will Abby (Kate Mansi) or JJ (Casey Moss) be curious about what their father was like growing up? And what does Xander/Alex think of his own step mother, Adrienne (Judi Evans?)

UPDATE:
On the Wednesday, April 9 episode of Days, it was revealed Xander's name is actually Alexandros and he is Victor's nephew but not the Alexander Kiriakis viewers remember being born in 1989.

Will and Paul Have Sex on 'Days of our Lives'

Will is married to Sonny, Paul is in love with Sonny, but Will and Paul had sex on Thursday.

Will and Paul had sex on Thursday's episode of Days of our Lives. TV Guide Magazine's Michael Logan spoke with actors Guy Wilson (Will Horton), Freddie Smith (Sonny Kiriakis) and Christopher Sean (Paul Narita) in a new interview. Below is an excerpt:

Editor's Note: Guy Wilson made his first appearance as Will one year ago today.

TV Guide Magazine: How did you react when you heard about this wild development?
Smith: This is not the way anybody thought this story would go – least of all me. [Laughs] It really threw me for a loop. It’s a super-crazy twist and when Sonny finds out what Will has done, it’s going to be insane. It was the last thing Sonny is expecting, to have this young stud, Paul, come to town...and now this! I think it’s just incredible. Not incredible for Sonny but, as an actor, it’s amazing. It just blew me away.
Sean: Before this Paul-Will thing started to show up in the scripts, I questioned [co-executive producer] Lisa de Cazotte as to what was going to happen. She hinted at a romance between Will and Paul and I was, like, “Whaat? Why would Paul ever do that?” I was just as shocked as the fans probably are. I think this may turn into quite a contest. It’ll be like those teen vampire-werewolf fan rivalries, with Team Paulson and Team Wilson fighting it out.

'Days of our Lives' Recap: Melanie Sees Naked Ben, Sonny Remembers Hot Sex with Paul, Jordan Finds Kate in Clyde's Room

On the Tuesday, December 1, 2014, episode of Days of our Lives, Marlena (Deidre Hall) called Will (Guy Wilson) in Hollywood and lectured him about not making time for Gabi and Sonny (Freddie Smith). Will got defensive but promised to send Gabi some photos and videos of Arianna.

Looking for Abigail (Kate Mansi), Melanie (Molly Burnett) walked in on a naked Ben (Robert Scott Wilson), who was just out of the shower. Ben rushed to put his clothes back on when Abigail returned, and the two women had a happy reunion. Melanie warned that Chad (Billy Flynn) may have gotten Abigail her job back, but he was still not to be trusted. Abigail then went to work, where she had another run-in with Theresa (Jen Lilley) and Anne (Meredith Lynn Scott).

Theresa continued to pursue pro baseball player Paul Narita (Christopher Sean) with Anne's help. Paul managed to avoid Theresa in the supply room where he had just kissed his ex, Sonny. Later, Theresa kissed the closeted Paul, who didn't seem to enjoy it very much.

Paul kissed Sonny on Days of our Lives.  How do they know each other?

On Wednesday's episode of NBC soap opera Days of our Lives, baseball player Paul Narita shared a kiss with Theresa Donovan (Jen Lilley) but it was his lip lock at the end of the hour that had fans talking. Paul walked into a supply room, where Sonny Kiriakis (Freddie Smith) was putting away supplies, locked the door, exchanged a knowing look and pulled him into a passionate kiss! And Sonny didn't resist, at least not yet.

Watch 'Days of our Lives' (Monday, November 3): Theresa is Pregnant, Kayla Battles Eve

On Monday's (November 3, 2014) episode of Days of our Lives, Theresa (Jen Lilley) made a huge confession to Anne (Meredith Scott Lynn), she's pregnant with Brady's (Eric Martsolf) baby. Though she thought she had found a private spot to share the news, Kristen (Eileen Davidson) was actually nearby and overheard the revelation. Elsewhere, Aiden (Daniel Cosgrove) told Bree, "There's not a single day that goes by that I don't think of Meredith. Not a single day."

Meanwhile, Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) and Eve (Charlotte) had a fascinating confrontation, full of venom and historical references.

Paige Wanted Sex from JJ, Lucas and Kate Vowed to Help Sami on 'Days of our Lives'

On Monday's episode of Days of our Lives (October 20, 2014), Paige Larson wanted sex from a shirtless JJ Deveraux. She broke into the Horton House, jumped into his bed, and was ready for action. Paige was certain JJ wanted it, but when he turned her down she left in a huff.

Abby and Ben Hit The Sheets, Jennifer Slaps Eve On 'Days of our Lives' (Mini Recap)

Abigail was thrilled to show a shirtless Ben what learned from EJ and Chad.

On Thursday's episode of Days of our Lives (October 2, 2014), Abigail Deveraux (Kate Mansi) went to bed with Ben Rogers (Robert Scott Wilson) and, thanks to lessons learned during trysts with Chad (Billy Flynn) and EJ (James Scott), she knew exactly how to please her new man. But who taught Ben how to please his woman?

Elsewhere, Jennifer Horton (Melissa Reeves) slapped Eve Baron Donovan Deveraux Larson (Kassie DePaiva) after Eve attacked her family.  Eve's daugter, Paige Larson (True O'Brien), wanted sex from JJ Deveraux (Casey Moss) but bringing up his Aunt Kayla's (Mary Beth Evans) rape didn't put him in the mood.

Ouch! That had to hurt.

Meanwhile, Sami DiMera (Alison Sweeney) confirmed to her twin, Eric Brady (Greg Vaughn), that she loved EJ, while EJ DiMera (James Scott) confirmed the same news to his ex-wife, Nicole Walker (Arianne Zucker). Sami and EJ seem so happy right now, doom is obviously just around the corner, especially since both actors are leaving the show. Is EJ going to die? Will Sami leave town? Does EJ fake his death so he can have a happy ending with Sami? So many questions, and it looks like October is the month we get the answers.

Watch Tuesday's 'Days of our Lives': Susan Battles Mean, Mean, Mean Kristen

The return of Dr. Matt Powers, Dr. Althea Davis in the debut of NBC classic soap opera The Doctors on Retro TV this week has to be the best television news for soap opera fans in ages. But a close second may be the hilarious return of Susan Banks, Eileen Davidson's 1990s Days of our Lives character that looked like Kristen DiMera but was the opposite of her in every other way. On Tuesday, Kristen found Susan, who came to Salem to visit her son EJ, at the DiMera mansion and they faced off for the first time in years. Days of our Lives recap for Wednesday, June 11, 2014:

Daniel (Shawn Christian) asks Jennifer (Melissa Reeves) if she really believes he wouldn't have told  Eric the truth about Nicole. Jennifer says she honestly believes if she didn’t tell Eric the truth, that he never would have found out. Daniel is shocked, but Jennifer says Daniel kept giving Nicole chances and that Nicole always finds a way to manipulate him  Daniel wonders if  Jennifer doesn't trust him enough to tell the truth. Jennifer says she does, but he has lied for Nicole before.  It's a pattern with him, he doesn't like to lie, but he does it if he feels it's for a good enough reason.  Jennifer continues on with her tirade claiming Nicole is manipulating Daniel, and that is another pattern and she is using her desperation to get Daniel to do things he wouldn't normally do. Jennifer says that Nicole hasn't changed and he doesn't realize the hold she has on him.  Daniel asks Jennifer if she thinks he is in love with Nicole, but Jennifer says of course she doesn't think that.  Seriously Daniel, it would never occur to Jennifer that a man

Marlena Confronts Kate and Sami on Tuesday's 'Days of our Lives'

Tuesday's episode of Days of our Lives (June 10, 2014) featured Marlena (Deidre Hall) confronting Kate (Lauren Koslow) and Sami (Alison Sweeney) over their manipulation of Gabi (Camila Banus), Julie (Susan Hayes) lambasting Gabi over Nick's (ex-Blake Berris) murder, Nicole (Arianne Zuker) blaming Daniel (Shawn Christian) for her losing Eric (Greg Vaughn), and JJ (Casey Moss) and Paige (True O'Brien) getting busy!

Performer of the Day: Alison Sweeney as Sami Brady.  After 21 years, Sweeney remains an expert at showing Sami's vulnerability around her mother.

Runner Up: Lauren Koslow as Kate Roberts. Kate was hysterical dealing with both Marlena and Sami.

Line of the Day: Marlena to Kate and Sami: "I can't believe what I am hearing from you clowns."

'Days Of Our Lives' Recap: June 9, 2014 (Monday) - Jennifer Goes Insane During Confrontation with Nicole; Abby Learns the Truth about Gabi; 'WilSon' and Kate Shine

Days of our Lives recap for Monday, June 9, 2014:
Nicole (Arianne Zucker) visits Jennifer (Melissa Reeves), and she is out for blood.  Jennifer claims she is worried about Rafe (Galen Gering) and Gabi (Camila Banus), and doesn't have time to talk with Nicole.  Nicole isn't letting Jennifer go anywhere.  Nicole tells Jennifer that by revealing her secret to Eric, she has destroyed everything for Eric and Nicole and the happiness they could have had together.  Nicole says she could have helped Eric and would have told him the truth if given a chance.  This sets Jennifer off and reminds me that her mother Laura was once institutionalized.

Abby (Kate Mansi) was rude to Paige (True O'Brien) who was not only upset about Gabi, but was also suffering from cramps and bloating. Abby and Paige (True O'Brien) bonded when Paige completely understood and offered her some 'Midol Complete.' Abby was very relieved and hoped that the pain would soon subside.

Rafe (Galen Gerring) was a complete mess. He feels he let Gabi (Camila Banus) down and should have been there for her when she needed him. Gabi told Rafe she was taking responsibility for her actions and she wouldn't let him blame himself. He has been a great brother to her. However, Gabi couldn't deal with speaking to her brother Dario (Ex- Francisco San Martin) and her mother and asked Rafe to tell them what happened. Jordan (Cristelle Strauss) tried to comfort Rafe, but he obsessed over his previously telling his dying sister Arianna (Ex-Lindsay Hartley)that he would protect Gabi, which he wasn't able to do. He called his mother to tell her about Gabi's arrest, who was crying so much that Rafe said he couldn't understand her. However, it doesn't seem as though she had any plans to visit Salem to be there for her daughter. Jordan vowed to be there for Rafe.
