GH Co-Head Writer Shelly Altman Talks Jason's Memory Returning

Jason's memory comes back this week on General Hospital
On the May 9, 2016 episode of General Hospital, Jason (Billy Miller) is visited by images of Robin (Kimberly McCullough), Carly (Laura Wright), Sonny (Maurice Benard) and Sam (Kelly Monaco). It's during this episode that Jason's memories come flooding back to him.

General Hospital co-head writer Shelly Altman tells Soap Opera Digest, "Just because he gets his memories back doesn't mean that he is just going to go right back to the life that he had before he lost the memories," she teases. "He's lived, now, a couple of years, first as 'Jake', then knowing his name, but he has made new relationships, had new realizations, and so now, he is going to be a much more consummate human being, letting his past and present merge. And he will, as a result of this event, reconnect with some people from his past in a way he has yet to do."

Kimberly McCullough Talks 'General Hospital' Return

Kimberly McCullough
Kimberly McCullough is returning to General Hospital as Robin Scorpio, and the popular actress couldn't be happier.

McCullough tells Soap Opera Digest, "A few weeks ago, I texted Frank [Valentini, executive producer] just to check in, and I shared the news with him that I am directing another episode of Pretty Little Liars. He was congratulatory, and then said, 'So, are you available?' I said, 'Yeah, I'm available until the end of May, when I shoot PLL.' He was like, 'Okay, great!' And then the next day, I got an email with the dates [he wanted me to shoot GH]. I was like, 'Oh, cool! You actually meant it!' I didn't know he was serious!"

The actress was unaware that her return had to do with the Nurses' Ball "They totally tricked me!" she teases. "After I said yes, they said, 'Okay, great, we're going to use you for the Nurses' Ball.' I was like, 'Oh, man! Let me get this straight: I have to wear heels and I probably have to do a speech and I may or may not have to do a dance routine? These are all things you probably should have mentioned to me!' But it's fine. I wish I could say I know exactly what I'm doing, but I don't. I just know that I'll appear at the ball and probably make a speech. I would love it if I could appear with Brooklyn [Rae Silzer, Emma], although I don't know if that will be the case."

Robin hasn't been at the Ball for years. "I honestly can't remember the last one that I went to," she marvels. "The Nurses' Ball [became a big deal] because of Stone, "Robin's first love, who lost his life to Aids in 1995, "so it's nice that I actually get to show up."

"Robin has been HIV-positive since 1995 and she's healthy and she has a healthy daughter. I've never gotten to make that speech: 'I'm alive, I'm healthy.' It's something to be celebrated, for sure, that we've made so much progress and people [with HIV] are living such long lives. It's amazing. I'm excited; I know this is going to be a lot of fun."

The Nurses' Ball begins May 24.

Real-Life AIDS Lessons For Two Playing a Part

By John J. O'Connor
New York Times
December 7, 1995

Pity the do-good project that winds up more irritating than illuminating. Pity indeed Positive: A Journey Into AIDS, an "Afterschool Special" on ABC at 4 P.M. today.

The primary players here are two actors who figured in a recent AIDS story line on ABC's General Hospital. Robin Scorpio (Kimberly McCullough), hard-working A student, fell in love with Michael (Stone) Cates (Michael Sutton), runaway drifter, only to discover that Stone had AIDS. As Robin prepared to deal with Stone's death, she discovered that she was H.I.V.-positive.

On Monday's (September 22, 2014) episode of ABC soap opera General Hospital, Robin (Kimberly McCullough) and Jason dodged a tail from Helena's henchmen and raced to Port Charles. On the trip, Robin revealed to Jason two big pieces of information: Franco (Roger Howarth) was not his brother, and Danny was his son. Robin showed up at Anna's (Finola Hughes) door, while Jason was about to walk in on a conversation between Sam (Kelly Monaco) and Sonny (Maurice Benard) as the episode ended.

Is this where Billy Miller makes his first appearance as Jason Morgan? Stay tuned!
