Thursday Ratings: 'The Vampire Diaries' Most-Watched Episode Since Midseason Finale

Last night's The Vampire Diaries was the series most watched (1.67M) and highest rated episode in A18-34 (0.9/3), W18-34 (1.2/4), and W18-49 (1.1/3) since its midseason finale on 12/11/14.

Week to week, The Vampire Diaries was up +13% in total viewers. +12% in A18-34, +20% in W18-34, and up +14% in A18-49 (0.8/3).

Reign was steady week to week in A18-49 (0.4/1).

For the night, The CW's Thursday was up +7% in total viewers (1.33M), and +20% in A18-49 (0.6/2) week to week.

In last week's Live + 3 Day delayed viewing, The Vampire Diaries increases of +45% in total viewers, +43% in A18-34 and +48% in A18-49 versus Live + Same Day alone, while Reign averaged a +51% gain in total viewers, a +47% jump in A18-34 and a +57% increase in A18-49.

The CW Renews 'Arrow', 'Jane The Virgin', 'Reign', 'The 100', 'The Flash', 'Supernatural, 'The Originals' and 'The Vampire Diaries'


The CW Network has picked up eight of its current series for the 2015-2016 season, it was announced by Mark Pedowitz, President, The CW, during the network’s session at the Television Critics Association Press Tour in Pasadena. In essence, The CW picked up all of the scripted series from its Fall 2014 schedule to next season.

“Each of these series have helped define what The CW is today, a network that is home to smart, provocative, quality programming, targeting a savvy adult audience,” said Pedowitz. “By picking up these shows now, our executive producers can start planning next season’s storylines, and rolling these shows out throughout next season guarantees The CW will have more proven original series for our fall, midseason and summer 2016 line-ups.”

The series being ordered for the 2015-2016 season include Arrow (Season 4), Jane The Virgin (Season 2), Reign (Season 3), Supernatural (Season 11), The 100 (Season 3), The Flash (Season 2), The Originals (Season 3) and The Vampire Diaries (Season 7).

Specific premiere dates for each series will be announced at a later time.

'The Vampire Diaries' Season 6 Premiere Preview: Fresh Starts and Second Chances


Season 6 of The Vampire Diaries premieres on Thursday, October 2 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW. The episode is titled "I'll Remember."

After spending the past four months coping with the loss of Damon (Ian Somerhalder) in an unconventional and potentially dangerous way, Elena (Nina Dobrev) has returned to Whitmore College for the start of sophomore year. Unable to move on, Caroline (Candice Accola) is desperate to find a way to reverse the anti-magic spell the Travelers have put over Mystic Falls and grows frustrated when her calls to Stefan (Paul Wesley) go unanswered. Tyler (Michael Trevino), who is human once again, has a run-in at a football tailgate that tests his ability to control his anger, while Matt (Zach Roerig) worries that Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) is dealing with the loss of Bonnie (Kat Graham) in a self-destructive way. Alaric (Matt Davis), who is struggling to adjust to his new life as a vampire, finds himself in an awkward situation when he meets Jo (guest star Jodi Lyn O'Keefe), a beautiful doctor at the university hospital. Last, while everyone believes Stefan is off tracking a lead to get Damon and Bonnie back, Elena is shocked when she learns the truth of what he has really been up to.

Teen Choice Awards: Complete List of Winners

Pretty Little Liars star Lucy Hale was voted Choice TV

This year's Teen Choice Awards ceremony was held Sunday night at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, hosted by Tyler Posey and Sarah Hyland. Winners were voted on by teenagers in categories such as movies, television and music.

The show was originally set to be held at the Pauly Pavilion near UCLA, but the venue had to be changed after the Pavilion was flooded with water and needed repairs.

ABC Family serial Pretty Little Liars was the big winner of the night taking home five of the television categories.

Warner Bros. Television and TV Guide Magazine Join Forces Once Again on a Special Comic-Con Edition of the Magazine Showcasing the Studio's Programming


Super friends Warner Bros. Television (WBTV) and TV Guide Magazine have joined forces for the fifth year in a row, teaming up on a special Warner Bros.-themed Comic-Con special edition of the magazine, taking fans behind the scenes of their favorite series and offering up four sets of collectible "flip" covers featuring Arrow star Stephen Amell; The Flash star Grant Gustin; The Following stars Kevin Bacon and James Purefoy; Supernatural stars Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles; The Vampire Diaries stars Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder; Constantine star Matt Ryan; a celebration of the 75th anniversary of Batman; and Gotham.

The CW Network Announces Fall 2014 Premiere Dates

The CW Network will strategically roll-out its Fall 2014 launch this October with two highly anticipated new series, The Flash and Jane The Virgin, joining returning favorites.

For the third year, The CW will kick off the new season with an exclusive telecast of the biggest concert of the year, the iHeartRadio Music Festival, airing over two nights, Monday, September 29 (8-10 p.m. ET) and Tuesday, September 30 (8-10 p.m. ET).

Thursday, October 2, all-new seasons of bloody, sexy drama return with the season premiere of The Vampire Diaries (8-9 p.m. ET) followed by Mary, Queen of Scots continuing her Reign (9-10 p.m. ET).

The CW Up in Adults 18-49 & Total Viewers, Season to Date

With the week of 2/9 coming to a close, for the 2013-14 season to date, The CW is up 14% in adults 18-49 year to year (0.8/2 vs. 0.7/2), up 3% in total viewers (1.9M vs. 1.84M), and flat in adults 18-34 (0.7/2). (Data is Most Current Nielsen ratings through 2/9/14).

Additionally, some Live + 7 Day highlights for The CW from the week of 1/20-1/26/14:

On a percentage basis, The CW is the most time-shifted network in primetime for the week, averaging a 46% lift in total viewers versus L+SD, a 58% gain in A18-34, and a 59% jump in A18-49

With Live + 7 Day data added in, THE ORIGINALS rises to become the second-highest rated show on The CW for the week in A18-49, growing 55% (1.7 vs. 1.1) versus L+SD. THE ORIGINALS had a 66% gain in A18-34 (1.4 vs 0.9) and a 67% increase in W18-34 (2.0 vs. 1.2) for the week. This season, THE ORIGINALS is averaging 3.3 million viewers in L+7 ratings, 1.6 in A18-34, 2.2 in W18-34, and 1.7 in A18-49.
