'Zoo' Premieres to Over 8 Million Viewers

Zoo, CBS's new event summer series, premiered with 8.07 million viewers making it the most-watched new scripted show of the summer, according to Nielsen preliminary live plus same day ratings for Tuesday, June 30.

At 9 p.m., Zoo was second in viewers (8.07m), adults 25-54 (1.8/05) and adults 18-49 (1.2/04). Zoo delivered the largest audience for a new scripted broadcast this summer and the second-best delivery for a new scripted series in both adults 25-54 and adults 18-49.

Zoo is projected to jump to more than 10.5m in viewers (+31%) and increase to a 1.8 in adults 18-49 (+47%) with 7-day playback.

CBS Summer 2015 Schedule


CBS has announced premiere dates for its lineup of original summer programing that includes the new drama Zoo, returning event series Under The Dome and Extant, and the summer reality hit Big Brother.

Zoo, a new drama based on the #1 bestselling novel by James Patterson, will premiere Tuesday, June 30 (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET/PT). In the series, a wave of violent animal attacks against humans begin taking place across the globe. As the assaults become more cunning, coordinated and ferocious, a young renegade biologist (James Wolk) is thrust into the race to unlock the pandemic’s mystery before there’s no place left for people to hide.

Big Brother debuts with a special two-night premiere on Wednesday, June 24 and Thursday, June 25, both at 8:00-9:00 p.m. ET/PT. The Thursday edition, featuring the live eviction show hosted by Julie Chen, moves to its regular time period on July 2 (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET/PT). The Sunday broadcast premieres June 28 (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET/PT). Last summer, all three editions of Big Brother regularly won their time periods in key young demographics and ranked among the summer’s top 10 programs in both adults 18-49 and adults 18-34.

Kristen Connolly and Billy Burke Join Cast of CBS Summer Drama 'Zoo'

Billy Burke and Kristen Connolly have joined the cast of Zoo.
Kristen Connolly and Billy Burke will join the cast of Zoo, a new drama series based on the bestselling novel of the same name by James Patterson, to be broadcast in summer of 2015, on CBS. Burke and Connolly join previously announced series regulars James Wolk, Nora Arnezeder and Nonso Anozie.

Connolly will play Jamie, a passionate young journalist intent on uncovering the story behind the mysterious animal behavior she’s been tracking. Burke has been cast as Mitch, an off-kilter animal veterinarian who prefers the simple company of animals to navigating the complexities of humans.

James Wolk will star in Zoo, a new drama series based on the bestselling novel of the same name by James Patterson, to be broadcast in summer 2015.

Zoo is a global thriller about a wave of violent animal attacks against humans sweeping the planet. James Wolk will play Jackson Oz, a young, renegade American zoologist who spends his days running safaris in the wilds of Africa when he begins noticing the strange behavior of the animals. As the assaults become more cunning, coordinated and ferocious, he is thrust into the race to unlock the mystery of the pandemic before there’s no place left for people to hide.
