Popular actress Sofia Pernas (Marisa) was recently bumped to recurring status at The Young and the Restless, but according to a YR spokesperson she "will continue to be seen on the show." But will the actress be available? Pernas has landed a lead role on the CW pilot, Transylvania

"On Monday morning I called my manager to let him know I was ready to take on what was left of pilot season and he calls about an hour and a half later telling me to put myself on tape immediately for Transylvania," Pernas tells Soap Opera Digest.

"The next day I went in to see casting and a couple hours later, I booked the part and I flew to Toronto the next day! It was absolutely insane and it was incredible how it all came together. A real stars aligning kind of moment." As for Genoa City, she says, "I will absolutely endeavor to fit in future appearances if the show goes to series. I love Y&R, love the producers, cast and crew; it's so much like a big family!"

Deadline is reporting that Sofia Pernas has been let go from her role of Marisa on The Young and the Restless. Reportedly, she was released from her contract due to budgetary reasons.

However, don't feel too bad for the actress. Pernas has been cast in the CW pilot Transylvania.

Pernas will play Coriander, an exotic gypsy, the leader of the matriarchal Szgany clan that runs the fleshpots of the Old City — the haunted spot where Vlad the Impaler once killed thousands of their tribe

Update: According to Michael Fairman, a show spokesperson for The Young and the Restless states, “She’s recurring and will continue to be seen on the show.”
