'Halt and Catch Fire' Renewed for Third Season by AMC

AMC has given a third season to Halt and Catch Fire, a show that garnered significant critical acclaim in its second season, which shifted focus from building a personal computer to online gaming and communication and the early days of what would become the Internet. Co-creators and writers Christopher Cantwell and Christopher C. Rogers have been upped to showrunners for the 10-episode third season, which will return to AMC next summer. The series will also debut on AMC Global channels around the world.

"We love what the creative team and cast have been able to deliver on Halt and Catch Fire and are particularly grateful to the critics and fans who supported the show throughout the second season and have been pulling for its renewal," said Joel Stillerman, president of original programming and development for AMC and SundanceTV. "We're so thankful for the talent and leadership of Jonathan Lisco over these first two seasons and glad that we are able to continue this story with co-creators and showrunners Chris Cantwell and Chris Rogers at the helm. In a world of TV series filled with scary, mythical creatures like zombies and dragons, we're thrilled to be able to follow these characters to Silicon Valley and finally bring unicorns to television."

AMC Orders 'Preacher' to Series

AMC has ordered a series based on the twisted and popular ‘90s comic book franchise “Preacher,” created by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon. The Sony Pictures Television and AMC Studios co-production was developed for television by Seth Rogen & Evan Goldberg (“This Is the End,” “Superbad,” “Neighbors”) and showrunner Sam Catlin (“Breaking Bad”). Rogen & Goldberg will produce the series through their Point Grey banner, along with Neal Moritz’s Original Film. AMC has ordered 10 one-hour episodes, with an expected premiere date in mid-2016.

“Preacher” is the story of Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper, “Agent Carter”), a conflicted Preacher in a small Texas town who is inhabited by a mysterious entity that allows him to develop a highly unconventional power. Jesse, his ex-girlfriend, Tulip (Ruth Negga, “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”), and an Irish vampire named Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun, “This Is England”) embark on a journey to, literally, find God.

AMC Places Straight-to-Series Order for 'The West' from Executive Producers Robert Redford and Stephen David Entertainment

AMC announced on Friday from the Television Critics' Association (TCA) Press Tour that it has placed a straight-to-series order for "The West" (working title), a docudrama executive produced by Emmy(R) Award-winning Stephen David Entertainment ("The World Wars," "The Men Who Built America") in association with Robert Redford's Sundance Productions. The network has ordered eight one-hour episodes to premiere in summer 2016, alongside the final seven episodes of Western drama "Hell on Wheels." Production on "The West" will begin in early August.

Through Stephen David Entertainment's unique blend of dramatic scenes, documentary footage and visual effects, "The West" will transport viewers into the violent world of cowboys, Indians, outlaws and law men and chronicle the intimate, little-known stories of Western legends such as Jesse James, Billy the Kid, Wyatt Earp, Crazy Horse and Sitting Bull. Spanning the years 1865 to 1890, the limited event series will show how, in the aftermath of the Civil War, the opportunity of land transforms the United States into the "land of opportunity" and creates modern America. "The West" will also feature exclusive interviews with notable names from classic Western films, including James Caan, Tom Selleck, Kiefer Sutherland, Ed Harris and more.

AMC's Martial Arts Drama Series 'Into the Badlands' to Premiere November 15

AMC's new martial arts drama series "Into the Badlands" will premiere Sunday, November 15th at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT. In a land controlled by feudal barons, "Into the Badlands" tells the story of a ruthless, well-trained warrior named Sunny (Daniel Wu) and a young boy named M.K. (Aramis Knight) who embark on a spiritual journey across a dangerous land. From AMC Studios, the six-part series is created by executive producers/showrunners/writers Alfred Gough and Miles Millar (Shanghai Noon, "Smallville"), and executive produced by Oscar(R)-nominated producers Stacey Sher and Michael Shamberg (Pulp Fiction, Contagion), director David Dobkin (Wedding Crashers, Shanghai Nights), fight director Stephen Fung (Tai Chi Zero, House of Fury) and Daniel Wu (Tai Chi Zero).

"'Into The Badlands' is an exciting moment for us in that martial arts is not only a new genre for an AMC series, but also one that has been largely absent from television for 15 years," said Joel Stillerman, president of original programming for AMC and SundanceTV. "The team behind 'Into The Badlands,' led by showrunners Al Gough and Miles Millar, is comprised of some of the best martial artists and martial arts filmmakers in the world, and they have crafted a show that over-delivers against two big goals we set for the show: to create a compelling character drama, and to introduce the highest caliber of martial arts filmmaking to a weekly, ongoing series."
