Hulu Signs Multi-Year Licensing Agreement For FX Series Including 'Tyrant,' 'The Strain' and 'Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll'


Hulu has closed a deal with Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution for the exclusive subscription video on demand rights to new and upcoming FX and FXX primetime comedy, drama and miniseries in a new, multi-year agreement for FX Networks' series produced or co-produced by FX Productions (FXP).

The deal will make Hulu the subscription video on-demand (SVOD) home to the largest selection of FX Networks content available through tablets, smartphones, gaming platforms and other internet-connected devices. Current season FX Networks series will remain available via the FXNOW app to authenticated subscribers through their MVPD provider.

'The Strain' Renewed by FX for 13-Episode Season 2

The Strain Season 2 will premiere next summer.
FX has ordered a 13-episode second season of its newest hit drama series The Strain from Guillermo del Toro and Carlton Cuse, it was announced today by John Landgraf, CEO, FX Networks and FX Productions. Season 2 of The Strain is scheduled to debut in the summer of 2015. There are seven all-new episodes remaining in Season 1 airing Sundays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX.

The Strain marks the first time FX has aired an original series on Sunday night and the move has shown its mettle, ranking as the #1 new series on cable (broadcast or premium) in 2014 in delivery of Adults 18-49. The series also recorded the most-watched series premiere in FX history with 12.7 million Total Viewers, which surpassed the network's initial projection of 10 million Total Viewers. The Strain is the first drama series produced solely by FXP (FX Productions).

Due to the popularity of the show, Fox Home Entertainment will release Season 1 of The Strain on DVD and Blu-ray(TM) everywhere on December 2.

FX's 'The Strain' Infects Comic-Con with Exclusive Fan Event

He is here. FX's drama series The Strain is headed to San Diego Comic-Con with an exclusive fan event on the evening of Saturday, July 26 at the Reading Cinemas Gaslamp 15. The event will give fans an inside look at the first two episodes of The Strain, props and costumes from the show, as well as a sneak peek into never-before-seen footage from the upcoming episode airing July 27 on FX. Attendees will also be treated to free food, drinks, giveaways and special appearances. VIP access for a limited number of fans will be granted per the details below.

Time: Saturday, July 26, 2014 -- VIP Arrival at 6:30 p.m. / General Audience Admission at 7:30 p.m.

Step 1: Visit the FOX (#4229), Harper Collins (#1029), and Dark Horse (#2615) booths and pick up a The Strain wristband from each one. The three wristbands must be picked up Friday or Saturday from 1- 4pm.

Step 2: The full wristband collection becomes your key to VIP access. Come to the theater at 6:30pm.

Step 3: Step inside for The Strain's exclusive giveaways and special appearances.

FX Networks Announces 2014 Comic-Con Slate

FX Networks' original series Archer, Sons of Anarchy, American Horror Story: Coven and The Strain are heading to Comic-Con in San Diego starting Friday, July 25 for panel discussions, press rooms and autograph signings.

Fans of Archer will be treated to an exclusive screening of an original short animation piece created specifically for SDCC, plus the upcoming never-before-seen season six premiere episode. Sons of Anarchy fans can expect some exclusive first-look footage from the upcoming seventh and final season while American Horror Story: Coven will take a look back at the recent installment and tease the upcoming American Horror Story: Freak Show. To round out the weekend, The Strain will show the never-before-seen third episode airing July 27 as well as an extended recap reel of the season so far.

FX and FXX Set Summer Premiere Dates for Original Series

Season 2 of The Bridge premieres July 9.
FX and FXX Networks have locked in the summer premiere dates for new and returning original series, including the highly anticipated new original dramas Tyrant and The Strain, as well as new comedies Married and You're the Worst. The scheduling announcements were made today by Chuck Saftler, President of Program Strategy and COO, FX Networks.

Tyrant

Up first for FX this summer is the premiere of the new drama series Tyrant on Tuesday, June 24 at 10 p.m. ET/PT. From Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning Executive Producer/Showunner Howard Gordon (24, Homeland), Tyrant tells the story of an unassuming American family drawn into the workings of a turbulent Middle Eastern nation. Bassam "Barry" Al Fayeed, the younger son of the dictator of a war-torn nation, ends a self-imposed 20-year exile to return to his homeland, accompanied by his American wife and children, for his nephew's wedding. Barry's reluctant homecoming leads to a dramatic clash of cultures as he is thrown back into the familial and national politics of his youth. The cast includes Adam Rayner, Jennifer Finnigan, Ashraf Barhom, Moran Atias, Noah Silver, Anne Winters, Fares Fares, Salim Daw, Justin Kirk, Jordana Spiro, Mehdi Dehbi, and Alice Krige. Howard Gordon, Craig Wright, Glenn Gordon Caron, Gideon Raff, David Yates, Michael Lehmann, Peter Noah, and Avi Nir are Executive Producers. Tyrant was created by Gideon Raff and it is produced by Fox 21 and FX Productions. FX has ordered 10 episodes of Tyrant for its first season which will air Tuesday nights at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
