FX Orders Fourth Season of 'The Americans'


FX has ordered a fourth season of the critically-acclaimed and award-winning drama The Americans. The Americans, currently the #1-ranked television series on Metacritic with a 92, will return for a 13-episode fourth season in 2016. Four episodes remain in the current season, which will conclude with the season finale on April 22nd.

The Americans was honored by the American Film Institute (AFI) as one of the TV Programs of the Year in 2014 for its first season and again in 2015 for its second season. The series has also received three Primetime Emmy Award(R) nominations over the course of its first two seasons.

FX January Premiere Dates Set for 'Archer,' 'The Americans,' 'Justified,' 'American Horror Story: Freak Show'

FX and FXX will ring in 2015 this January in a big way with the season premieres of Justified, The Americans and Archer on FX, along with the season premiere of It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia and the series premiere of Man Seeking Woman on FXX, it was announced Friday by Chuck Saftler, President of Program Strategy and COO, FX Networks. Rounding out the January schedule will be the final three episodes of FX’s critically acclaimed, smash hit American Horror Story: Freak Show.

“This amazing collection of returning hits, award-winning series and a new comedy series continue to distinguish FX and FXX as the premier destinations for dramas and comedies on television,” said Saftler.

FX January Premieres and Highlights

First up is the Season 6 premiere of the hit animated comedy series Archer, airing on FX on Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT, beginning January 8. Archer is FX’s #1 rated comedy series. Archer is an animated, half-hour comedy that revolves around an international spy agency and the lives of its employees. Although their work of espionage, reconnaissance missions, wiretapping and undercover surveillance is daunting and dangerous, every covert operation and global crisis is actually just another excuse for the staff to undermine, sabotage and betray each other for personal gain. The series features the voices of H. Jon Benjamin as the highly skilled and incredibly vain master spy “Sterling Archer;” Aisha Tyler as Archer’s fellow agent and ex-girlfriend, “Lana Kane;” Jessica Walter as Archer’s domineering mother and spy agency director, “Malory Archer;” Chris Parnell as the easily intimidated comptroller-turned secret agent “Cyril Figgis;” Judy Greer as Malory’s loquacious, dingbat secretary, “Cheryl;” Amber Nash as the discordant director of human resources, “Pam Poovey;” Adam Reed as the gay voice of reason, “Ray Gillette;” and Lucky Yates as the spy agency’s possibly mad scientist/ possibly clone of himself, “Krieger.”

Costa Ronin Joins 'Marvel's Agent Carter' as Anton Vanko

Costa Ronin (The Americans) will join the cast of Marvel's Agent Carter in the role of Anton Vanko, who longtime Marvel Cinematic Universe fans will recognize as the father of one of Tony Stark's deadliest foes.

Though fans first heard of Anton and Howard Stark's business partnership in Marvel's Iron Man 2, when Vanko's son Ivan (portrayed by Mickey Rourke) made his debut, we'll get to see a significantly younger Anton as Costa Ronin in the new ABC series premiering January 2015.

Frank Langella Joins 'The Americans' for Season 3


Academy Award nominee and three-time Tony Award winner Frank Langella will go deep undercover with FX's critically acclaimed drama The Americans, in a recurring role in the show's third season, which began production this week.

Langella will play the role of Gabriel, Philip and Elizabeth's former KGB handler who comes out of retirement to take back responsibility for overseeing these two KGB operatives from their previous handler, Claudia (Margo Martindale).

'The Americans' Makes Streaming Debut on Prime Instant Video, Before Season Two Premiere on FX

Amazon.com, Inc. this week announced a content licensing agreement with Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution that will make Prime Instant Video the exclusive online-only subscription home for streaming all past episodes of popular period drama The Americans. Prime members can experience all the tension and intrigue of the first season anytime, from hundreds of connected devices, just in time for the February 26th return of the series on FX.

'The Americans' Kicks Off Season 2 On February 26

FX's drama THE AMERICANS returns for its second season on Wednesday, February 26 at 10 PM ET/PT.

THE AMERICANS was recently named by the AFI as one of the Programs of the Year. The series also received the most Television Critics Association Awards nominations of any show this year (four) and earned four Critics' Choice Television Award nominations. The series stars Keri Russell, Matthew Rhys, Noah Emmerich, Holly Taylor, Keidrich Sellati, Annet Mahendru, Alison Wright and Susan Misner.

The series premiere of THE AMERICANS on January 30, 2013 stands as FX's most-watched drama debut ever, drawing 5.1 million viewers.

Currently in production in New York, THE AMERICANS is a period drama about the complex marriage of two KGB spies posing as Americans in suburban Washington D.C. shortly after Ronald Reagan is elected President.
