mun2 Becomes NBC Universo on Sunday, February 1


NBCUniversals Hispanic cable network mun2 transitions to become NBC Universo – the company's modern general entertainment cable channel for Latinos – on Sunday, February 1, the day it airs the exclusive Spanish-language telecast of Super Bowl XLIX. NBC Universo viewers who subscribe to DIRECTV will be able to view all of the network’s programming – including Super Bowl XLIX – in HD, as the satellite provider will offer HD carriage of the channel beginning today, Jan. 30. DIRECTV is the first Pay TV provider to offer NBC Universo in HD, and the network continues to have conversations with all of its distributor partners.

NBC Universo is also announcing new programming beginning on February 1, and through the winter and spring seasons.

Total Market Innovation - Guaranteed - And More Than 800 Hours of New Original, Multi-Platform Programming Headline Telemundo & mun2 2014-15 Upfront

Tonight at Telemundo and mun2’s annual Upfront presentation, held at New York’s Frederick P. Rose Hall, network executives unveiled the company's 2014-2015 programming line-up, including more than 800 original new hours across all platforms featuring five new primetime novelas and a new Sunday night primetime musical competition series. Joe Uva, Chairman, Hispanic Enterprises and Content, NBCUniversal, announced Luis Silberwasser, as the new President of Telemundo Network, to start in August. He also introduced the new brand positioning and programming line-up for mun2, accompanied by its newly appointed president, Rubén Mendiola. The presentation concluded with a high-energy performance by Prince Royce, the award-winning and current coach of Telemundo's highly-rated singing competition "La Voz Kids."

Silberwasser will have overall responsibility for the Telemundo broadcast network, including Telemundo Studios, the leading producer of original Spanish-language primetime content for U.S. Hispanics. Working closely with the Hispanic Enterprises and Content senior team and Telemundo’s leadership, Silberwasser will be responsible for developing and executing the Spanish-language network’s growth strategy with a focus on increased market share and profitability.

mun2 Premieres Record-Breaking Telenovela EL SEÑOR DE LOS CIELOS on February 3

mun2, the leading Hispanic cable network for today’s young Latino audience, will premiere the record-breaking telenovela EL SEÑOR DE LOS CIELOS (Lord of the Skies) in Spanish with English subtitles starting Monday February 3 at 7 p.m. EST/. EL SEÑOR, which tells the story of Aurelio Casillas (Rafael Amaya), a leading Mexican drug lord presumed dead after undergoing a dramatic physical transformation, was one of the most successful series in the history of Telemundo. The series reached nearly 15 million total viewers during its 17-week run, consistently beating a number of networks, regardless of language. EL SEÑOR will air weekly with back to back episodes on Mondays from 7-9 p.m. EST/6-8pm CST, and Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays at 7 p.m. EST/6C.
