Indie Series Awards Spotlight: Best Original Song

The new Best Original Song category features music from Hart of America, Life of Matt, New Mayor of New York, Or So the Story Goes, Redheads Anonymous and The Under 5ers.

The 7th Annual Indie Series Awards ceremony is only 38 days away. As the countdown to ISA7 continues, Serial Scoop is shining a spotlight on the nominees in each category. Today we look at a brand new category this year, Best Original Song, which had many, many wonderful submissions. Check out the final six nominees below.

Gemma & The Bear was voted favorite web series for week. The season finale of Under InspeKtion was second, followed by new episodes of The Under 5ers He's With Me and Freefall.

The acting favorites were Gemma & The Bear's Kevin R. Free and  Under InspeKtion's Emily Hooper, and the favorite couple/duo was Gemma & The Bear from Gemma & The Bear.

'Serial Scoop Now': 'The Under 5ers' with Alexandra Nader

The Under 5ers co-creator and star Alexandra Nader with Serial Scoop Now host Roger Newcomb.

On the latest episode of Serial Scoop Now (1.17), host Roger Newcomb chats with actress and writer Alexandra Nader, one of co-creators and stars of comedy web series The Under 5ers which recently kicked off its 10-episode second season.

"We know there's a million shows out there about twentysomethings trying to make it Manhattan, we just tell our own stories in our way," Nader explains.

The Under 5ers co-creator and star Matthew Ryan Wilson with Serial Scoop Now host Roger Newcomb.

On the latest episode of Serial Scoop Now (1.16), host Roger Newcomb chats with Oregon native Matthew Ryan Wilson, one of co-creators and stars of comedy web series The Under 5ers which recently kicked off its 10-episode second season.

"It is a Three's Company dynamic with Girls content," Wilson says when describing The Under 5ers. "Take Three's Company and put them in 2015 and you have the The Under 5ers."

'Serial Scoop Now': 'The Under 5ers' with Sami Horneff

The Under 5ers co-creator and star Sami Horneff with Serial Scoop Now host Roger Newcomb.

On the latest episode of Serial Scoop Now (1.15), host Roger Newcomb chats with New York native Sami Horneff, one of co-creators and stars of comedy web series The Under 5ers which recently kicked off its 10-episode second season.

"The Under 5ers is very relatable," Horneff explains, "and everyone has gone through something we portray on this show--whether you've been on a bad date, or you've had a crazy boss, or you're trying to figure out who you are. These are all themes I think people can relate to, but we do them in a way that hopefully is going to make you laugh."
