Portia Doubleday and Carly Chaikin Cast in 'Mr. Robot'

Portia Doubleday
Portia Doubleday (Her, Carrie) and Carly Chaikin (Suburgatory) have been cast in USA Network’s cyber-crime drama pilot Mr. Robot. They join previously announced Rami Malek (24, The Pacific).

Doubleday plays Angela, the pragmatic old childhood friend of Elliot (Malek) and an account executive at the AllSafe Cyber Security firm. She is the one person who Elliot will open up to.

Chaikin will take on the role of Marlene, the chain-smoking striking hipster who also happens to be an expert at writing malicious malware -- specifically, dangerous computer worms that take down entire networks.

Doubleday co-starred opposite Chloe Moretz in Carrie as bad girl Chris Hargensen and has a cameo opposite Joaquin Phoenix as the sex-surrogate in the Spike Jonze academy award winning film Her. Additional credits include a co-starring role on Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son and a recurring role as Matthew Perry’s assistant on the comedy series Mr. Sunshine. Doubleday starred in her first leading role opposite Michael Cera in Miguel Arteta’s film Youth in Revolt, which was named one of the ten best films of the year by the National Board of Review. She also starred in the AFI short 18, written and directed by Joy Gohring. Doubleday is represented by Paradigm.
