Freddie Smith's Contract Set to Expire at 'DAYS'; Will He Renew?

Freddie Smith/Photo Credit: Brad Everett Young
Sonny (Freddie Smith) and Paul (Christopher Sean) recently shared a passionate New Year’s Eve kiss on Days of our Lives-- Well, as passionate a kiss as gay men can have on soaps-- and are in the process of finding their way back to each other. The only impediment to a reunion may be Smith's contract which is set to expire.

However, Smith reveals in the latest issue of Soap Opera Digest that he hopes to continue on DAYS as Sonny. "I’ve learned that DAYS is an iconic show and I just love what they’re doing. If It makes any sense, I need to be there.”

Real Life Tragedy for 'Days of our Lives' Actress

Maria Tornberg debuted on Days of our Lives yesterday as Agent Reznik, a gorgeous undercover operative who supplied Rafe with news about Stefano.

However, in her real life, the actress is recovering from the unthinkable. In September, trying to escape from an intruder who was breaking into her home, she was forced out of a high second story window onto concrete to save her life.

In the aftermath of her fall, she completely shattered both of her heels, fractured the T12 vertebrae of her spine, and broke both of her hands. She was left with casts on every limb.

Leaked Audition Video Reveals More Information about Steve and Ava's Son Tripp on 'Days of our Lives'

Lucas Adams
Lucas Adams has been cast as Tripp, Steve's (Stephen Nichols) son with the late Ava Vitali (ex-Tamara Braun) on Days of our Lives. He will air first air in 2017.

Actor Raef Steiert auditioned for the role of Tripp in August, and posted it on Vimeo. It was previously posted on YouTube, but the actor deleted it.

The posted audition reveals that Tripp is an extremely angry young man. Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) has bailed him out of jail for shoving a guy up against a wall. However, he claims it was to protect Claire (Olivia Rose Keegan). Later, he tells Kayla that he believes that his mother was murdered, and he is determined to find out the truth.

I don't think that Tripp will be too happy when he learns that his new brother, Joey (James Lastovic), murdered his mother!

Leaked Audition Tape Reveals More Information About Eli on 'Days of our Lives'

Although not officially confirmed by the soap, Lamon Archey (Ex-Mason; Y&R) has joined the cast of Days of our Lives as Eli Grant. Eli is Valerie's (Vanessa Williams) son, and will be revealed to be Julie's (Susan Seaforth Hayes) grandson.

Who will the sexy Eli be interacting with in Salem? If we go by a leaked audition tape for the role on Vimeo, we may have our answer.

Anton Jeftha tested for Eli, who was then known as Levi. The script reveals that Eli and Gabi Hernandez (Camila Banus) will cross paths in a major way.

Eli is a cop, who is investigating something sinister down at the docs. Eli warns Gabi that if she keeps poking her head in places where she doesn't belong, she could end up dead. Gabi claims she has the right connections and can take care of herself. They banter back and forth until the sound of a gun shot scares Gabi. Eli believes that Gabi felt safe in his arms, but she thinks he is cocky and obnoxious. She walks off, but not before declaring, "I don't think there is enough room in here, for both me and your ego."

Although we can't be sure that this scene will make it to air, it does look like sparks will fly between Eli and Gabi. What does this mean for JJ (Casey Moss) and Chad (Billy Flynn)? And what will Julie think about another Horton relative possibly hooking up with Gabi? Stay tuned!

You can watch Anton Jeftha test for "Levi" below:

Sal Stowers Back as Lani on Days of Our Lives; Was DAYS Planning on Recasting?

Sal Stowers
Sal Stowers returns to Days of our Lives next week as Lani Price, the role she created last September.

During her original stint in Salem, Lani got to know her father Abe (James Reynolds) and brother Theo (Kyler Pettis). She also obsessed over Shawn (Brandon Beemer), but the actress was let go from the show before the story could go anywhere.

Stowers reveals in the latest issue of Soap Opera Digest that she was surprised when she received a text from DAYS Casting Director Marni Saitta about a return. "I was excited, but at first I didn't believe it. So, I called Marni. It's weird, but I always felt that I was going to come back. Lani is Abe's daughter, so there was always that possibility that she could come back to town."

But was DAYS intending on finding a new actress to play Lani, before reaching out to Stowers?
