'One Child' Miniseries to Air December 5-6 on SundanceTV, Stars Katie Leung & Donald Sumpter

SundanceTV will premiere its newest original mini-series One Child on December 5th and 6th at 9 p.m. ET/PT. The four-hour series penned by Guy Hibbert (Complicit, Five Minutes of Heaven) which stars Katie Leung (Harry Potter) and features Emmy nominated actress Elizabeth Perkins (Weeds) and Donald Sumpter (Game of Thrones, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) will air as a two-night special event. One Child follows the journey of a Chinese-born young woman adopted by British parents as she struggles in the face of crisis to determine her family loyalties, true identity and the meaning of family.

Perkins and Sumpter play Katherine and Jim Ashley, British adoptive parents of Mei (Leung), a first-born Chinese girl. Mei's birth mother calls her back to Guangzhou in desperation, seeking help to save her son who has been wrongly-accused of murder. The journey explores Mei's inner battle as she decides how far she will go to help the woman who gave her away and the brother she's never met.

"One Child is a deeply affecting work that delves into the heart of a human struggle. It tells the story of an ordinary young woman who is plunged into a situation that challenges her to her core," said SundanceTV President, Sarah Barnett. "It takes viewers on an immersive journey across the globe and shines a bold spotlight on the complexity of family dynamics and personal identity."

One Child is executive produced by Hilary Salmon for BBC Productions. The project is a BBC Drama production for BBC Two, co-produced with SundanceTV, and distributed by BBC Worldwide North America.

This project follows the success of the SundanceTV/BBC co-production Top of the Lake, which received two Golden Globe nominations and one win for Best Performance by an Actress in a Miniseries for Elisabeth Moss; eight Emmy nominations including one win; and two SAG nominations.

SundanceTV and BBC's next co-production, The Honorable Woman starring Maggie Gyllenhaal premiered on July 31, 2014.

First Thoughts on Guy Wilson as the New Will Horton on DAYS OF OUR LIVES

Guy Wilson debuted as the new Will Horton on DAYS OF OUR LIVES on Wednesday, January 8, 2014. "You're not gonna believe this!" That was actor Guy Wilson's first line in his debut as the new Will Horton on DAYS OF OUR LIVES. Well, believe it! Over the years many relative unknown thespians, who later turned out to be excellent actors, even Emmy winners, made their daytime soap opera debuts and looked like stiffs. This is a different medium, with a lot of dialogue to memorize, where getting it right on the first take is desired. It's understandable if a new actor in a daytime drama takes not just one, but several episodes to settle in. It's happened time and again so I give them a pass. Luckily, Wilson doesn't need one. He performed like a seasoned pro on Day One.
