'General Hospital' Recap: May 13, 2014 (Tuesday) - The End of the Nurses Ball

Lucy appeared on stage in her skivvies at the most inopportune time.
General Hospital recap for Tuesday, May 13, 2014:

The Nurses Ball wound down but not before an affair was exposed. Lucy (Lynn Herring), who was going to end up in her skivvies one way or another (a Nurses Ball tradition!), found herself on stage at the most inopportune time. Scott (Kin Shriner) was determined to convince Lucy to choose him over Kevin (Jon Lindstrom) so he followed her to the stage where the curtain was down....until he planted a huge kiss on her. As the curtain rose, the crowd gasped at seeing a half-naked Lucy in a passionate lip lock with Scott. Kevin was none too pleased. Lucy was forced to chase after him but Kevin was not having any of her explanations.

Meanwhile, the kiddie love triangle took another turn when Emma (Brooklyn Rae Silzer) told Spencer (Nicolas J.Bechtel) she forgave him for his behavior at the engagement party. The problem for Spencer? Despite Emma's forgiveness, she wasn't going to take him back. She came to the Ball with Cameron (Micheal Leone) and was leaving with him.

After Brad (Parry Shen) pulled Lucas (Ryan Carnes) into a passionate kiss, Lucas revealed that he was with Felix (Marc Anthony Samuel) now. Felix wasn't happy to go along with that lie, and Brad was "broken hearted" again.

Lucy's affair being exposed brought the Ball to a screeching halt but Felix jumped on stage and took over the emcee duties. He introduced Emma and talked about the importance of the Nurses Ball.

At the hospital, Patrick (Jason Thompson) and Sabrina (Teresa Castillo) fretted over the health of their premature son. They were eventually kicked out of the neonatal intensive-care unit because it was possible they were bringing germs in that would hurt the baby.

Emma stole the show at the Nurses Ball.
The Nurses Ball continued with a performance by Emma, who sang "It's a Beautiful Day" as Grandma Anna (Finola Hughes) looked on with happy tears.

Molly Lansing Davis (Haley Pullos) and T.J. Ashford (Tequan Richmond) performed Depeche Mode's "Just Can't Get Enough," with Nancy Lee Grahn's real-life daughter, Kate Grahn, singing and playing the keyboard in the background.

Dr. Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) sang "Always on My Mind" and dedicated it to her two children, Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) and Nathan (Ryan Paevey).

The final performer was Ephiphany, who sang last year's closer, "You're Not Alone," in Sabrina's place. After the first few lines, we saw Sabrina and Patrick singing the song outside the NICU. The crowd left the Nurses Ball with many ending up at the hospital to lend their support to Patrick and Sabrina.

Performer of the Day: Brooklyn Rae Silzer as Emma Drake. This just turned 8-year-old actress managed a love triangle, a beautiful song performance, and a heartbreaking visit to her baby brother flawlessly.

Runner Up: Lynn Herring as Lucy Coe. Speaking of flawless, Lynn Herring gave a masterful performance as Lucy begged Kevin to understand what was going through her mind when she began (and continued) the affair with Scott.

Line of the Day: "Emma and I would like to take a moment to thank you all for coming out tonight. Your support is crucial to the ball and, more importantly, the fight against HIV and AIDS, a fight which unfortunately has yet to be won. But the more soldiers we have, the closer we get. So, your presence here means the world to amfAR." - Felix DuBois to the Nurses Ball crowd, reminding them and viewers of what the Nurses Ball was all about.

Clifftwister of the Day: The curtain rising on Lucy's affair with Scott. What a devastating moment for Lucy and Kevin. Will their relationship ever be the same?

  1. Who played keyboard and sang backup for Emma on "It's a Beautiful Day"? Someone on another site said it was Nancy Lee Grahn's daughter Kate but I saw her on T. J. & Molly's song - this wasn't her. Can anyone help?
