'EastEnders' Spoilers: Affair on the Horizon

EastEnders' Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) will cheat on his fiancée Sharon Rickman (Letitia Dean) when he embarks on an affair with ex-partner Shirley Carter (Linda Henry).

Viewers will remember that Shirley previously confessed her love for Phil shortly before he proposed to Sharon.

The pair are also harboring each other's closest secrets, as Phil is aware that Shirley is Mick Carter's real mom, while Shirley knows that Phil ordered the Albert attack on Sharon last month.

Phil does known that Sharon has discovered that he was responsible for her attack and is plotting revenge on him in the lead-up to their wedding day.

Over the years many relative unknown thespians, who later turned out to be excellent actors, even Emmy winners, made their daytime soap opera debuts and looked like stiffs. This is a different medium, with a lot of dialogue to memorize, where getting it right on the first take is desired. It's understandable if a new actor in a daytime drama takes not just one, but several episodes to settle in. It's happened time and again so I give them a pass. Luckily, Wilson doesn't need one. He performed like a seasoned pro on Day One.

Malloy, who came in at #45 on the We Love Soaps 50 Greatest Soap Actors of All Time list, played Sky Whitney on Edge of Night , Kyle Sampson on Guiding Light , Travis Montgomery on All My Children and Clay Alden on Loving .
