'The Young and the Restless' Marks 26 Years as Top-Rated Daytime Soap Opera

Y&R has been the top-rated daytime drama for 26 consecutive years. The Young and the Restless marked 26 consecutive years as daytime's #1 drama, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for the week of December 8-12, 2014. For the week, The Young and the Restless averaged 4.76 million viewers, up +4% over last week. The program also led the week in both women 25-54 (1.8/12) and women 18-49 (1.2.09). Season-to-date, Y&R is daytime's #1 drama in viewers (5.04m), women 25-54 (2.1/14) and women 18-49 (1.4/10). The Young and the Restless , currently in its 42nd season, began its winning streak the week of December 26, 1988. Friday (December 19) Episode of 'General Hospital' Moved to Monday (December 22) In All Time Zones

Friday's episode of GH will now air on Monday. President Obama held his annual year-end news conference on Friday and it preempted General Hospital in most of the country. But don't despair General Hospital fans, Friday's GH will now air on Monday, December 22. There will also be a brand new episode on Wednesday, December 24 instead of a repeat. 'The Real Women of Telenovelas' Reality Series Set For WE TV

WE tv is developing The Real Women of Telenovelas . WE tv announced that it is developing a new reality series focused on the world of telenovelas. Set in Miami, and produced by Matador, the show will follow a group of beautiful and fierce Latina actresses and actors working in this hyper-competitive world, which has captivated hundreds of millions of viewers around the globe. Telenovelas are short-run Spanish-language soap operas that have captured hearts and TV screens around the world. Sexy, dramatic and over-the-top, telenovelas have taken the traditional American soap opera to a new level. First produced in Mexico and Latin America, over the last few years South Florida has become the new home base for production of this TV genre, and Miami has earned the nickname, “Telenovela Tinseltown,” as aspiring stars descend upon the city in the hopes of making it big.

Julian McMahon celebrated the 30th anniversary of Another World in 1994 with co-stars, including Colleen Dion, Judi Evans, Barbara Berger, Robyn Griggs and Amy Carlson. Golden Globe nominee Julian McMahon ( Nip/Tuck , Charmed )  has been added to the cast of Syfy's upcoming six-hour miniseries Childhood's End. McMahon will portray Rupert Boyce, an enigmatic American entrepreneur. McMahon is well known for his roles in Charmed and the hugely successful Nip/Tuck . Hulu Signs Multi-Year Licensing Agreement For FX Series Including 'Tyrant,' 'The Strain' and 'Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll'

Hulu has closed a deal with Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution for the exclusive subscription video on demand rights to new and upcoming FX and FXX primetime comedy, drama and miniseries in a new, multi-year agreement for FX Networks' series produced or co-produced by FX Productions (FXP). The deal will make Hulu the subscription video on-demand (SVOD) home to the largest selection of FX Networks content available through tablets, smartphones, gaming platforms and other internet-connected devices. Current season FX Networks series will remain available via the FXNOW app to authenticated subscribers through their MVPD provider.
