Attend the 'Weight' VIP Party and Advanced Screening on October 8 with Martha Byrne and Daryn Strauss

Martha Byrne stars in Weight.
If you are a soap opera fan in New York City or love a good web series, there's another chance to meet some of your favorite stars. Tickets are still available for a VIP Soap Party and Advanced Screening of indie series Weight to be held on October 8 at 7 p.m. at Galway Pub, 7 E. 36th Street (between 5th and Madison). Weight is a new comedy created and executive produced by Writers Guild Award nominee Daryn Strauss and starring two-time Emmy winner Martha Byrne.

An impressive list of stars from Daytime TV and the Web will be attending the VIP Soap Party including Byrne (As the World Turns, Crisis, Gotham), Elizabeth Hubbard (The Doctors, As the World Turns), Colleen Zenk (Thurston, As The World Turns, Thurston), Anne Sayre (As the World Turns, Gotham), Michael Park (As the World Turns, House of Cards), Terri Conn (As the World Turns, One Life to Live), Larkin Malloy (The Edge of Night, Guiding Light, All My Children), Lisa Brown (Guiding Light, As the World Turns), Lauren B. Martin (As the World Turns, Empire) and Elizabeth Keifer (Guiding Light, Venice).

Guests will also get a special sneak preview of Byrne's latest movie, Preying for Mercy, directed by Bill Duke, plus a short Q & A with the star and creator. A limited number VIP tickets are $75 each, which includes access to VIP area. Tickets can be purchased on the website at weighttheseries.com at the bottom of the page. All proceeds raised go towards Weight production.

Bradley White, Kate West, Martha Byrne and
Peyton Ella star as Weight's Carlson family.
Weight stars Byrne as Claire, a middle class mom, who returns home from a reality weight loss competition 100 pounds lighter only to find she's gained some extra baggage due to the complicated reactions of her dysfunctional family and friends. This smart comedy, in the vein of the movie Little Miss Sunshine, combines America's obsession with weight loss and reality television for a look at how weight can bring together and also divide people.

Weight also stars Allison Smith (The West Wing, Kate & Allie, Broadway's "Annie") as Claire's sister, Bradley White (Mad About You, Bad Parents, Masters of Sex) as Claire's husband, Dee Freeman (Pretty The Series, The Hughleys), Maitely Weismann (Masters of Sex, Sam & Cat) and Trent Dawson (As the World Turns, Homeland). Claire's daughters are played by Peyton Ella (NBC's "The Sound of Music Live!") and Kate West (daughter of General Hospital's Maura West). It is directed by veteran primetime network television director Frederick King Keller (Crisis, 24, CSI: Miami, Blue Bloods).

First Thoughts on Guy Wilson as the New Will Horton on DAYS OF OUR LIVES

Guy Wilson debuted as the new Will Horton on DAYS OF OUR LIVES on Wednesday, January 8, 2014. "You're not gonna believe this!" That was actor Guy Wilson's first line in his debut as the new Will Horton on DAYS OF OUR LIVES. Well, believe it! Over the years many relative unknown thespians, who later turned out to be excellent actors, even Emmy winners, made their daytime soap opera debuts and looked like stiffs. This is a different medium, with a lot of dialogue to memorize, where getting it right on the first take is desired. It's understandable if a new actor in a daytime drama takes not just one, but several episodes to settle in. It's happened time and again so I give them a pass. Luckily, Wilson doesn't need one. He performed like a seasoned pro on Day One.
