Justin Hartley is the new Adam on The Young and the Restless. |
"I'm so pumped about joining Y&R — I watch it all the time and can't wait to get in there and get my hands dirty!" says Hartley, the 37-year-old actor who kicked off his career in 2002 as Fox Crane on Passions, and is currently appearing in ABC primetime soap Mistresses. "I have great respect for daytime drama. I love the branding. I love the style. What can I say? I love good soap!"
"It's all about story and character with me and I don't care if the job is on daytime or primetime or the web. Hey, give me a good character and someone to listen and I'll do my acting on a street corner."
Justin Hartley has appeared in primetime serials including Revenge, Mistresses, Emily Owens M.D. and Smallville. He also starred in the web series Gemini Division. |
Hartley will report for work at Y&R in late September and is scheduled to hit the air during November sweeps, according to TVGuide.com.
He replaces Michael Muhney, who was fired from the soap last December and aired for the last time on January 30. Muhney took over the role in 2009 when Chris Engen suddenly left the CBS soap.
Muhney tweeted the following after the casting was revealed: "I really like Justin Hartley. He's a good guy. We really get along well. I wish him the best. Be kind to him. #goodguy"
