Teen Soap 'Youthful Daze' Reveals Protagonist is Gay

Youthful Daze is introducing a gay storyline in Season 2.

Teen soap opera Youthful Daze is introducing a gay storyline in the show's second season.

It's a new school year at Westfield Prep, and when Tommy Dinato (Ethan Daniel Corbett) comes back to town, it's clear that he has a past with Drew Castle (Bryan James). Not until a heated argument turns into a heated make out session do we learn that their history is a romantic one. No one knows about their relationship or the fact that either of them might be gay. But since the whole thing is caught on a camera phone, their secret might not be safe for long.

The storyline continues with new episodes every Sunday night.

“Creating and expanding a teen drama series world into a larger scope for season two it only seemed logical to develop story lines that could reach a wider audience and to tell stories that are powerful about love in all forms," said series creator Bryan James.  "Everyone on Youthful Daze is committed to telling long term storylines about love that exists between male characters. We hope the audience will embrace the show and enjoy all aspects of the series. It is time for more good shows to become easily available to a under served demographic that does not pander to or label it's gay characters as supporting parts with little to do and tells gay storylines front and center the same in a genre that should showcase the straight storylines and the gay ones with no hang ups or discrimination in execution. We are a soap opera that has something for everyone.”

James is an actor hailing from Southern California. His list of credits includes a guest starring role on Mystery ER (Discovery Health Channel) as well as recently playing James Dean for a student thesis project at USC. His desire to create what has become the internationally popular teen drama series Youthful Daze first stemmed from a desire to be working in this genre of television.

The Youthful Daze cast includes Bryan James, Ethan Daniel Corbett, Easton Schirra (General Hospital, Zoey 101, iCarly), Daniel Kountz (United States of Tara, Mad Men, Ghost Whisperer), Jessica Osgood, Ash Nair (Entourage, The Protector), Sarah Hester (Hollywood Heights, Jane by Design, Unfabulous) Paul Vandervort (Parenthood, Melissa and Joey, Icarly), David Loren (Private Practice, House). Guest stars include Kami Koren (Days of our Lives), Heidi Kerring (The Bold and the Beautiful), Riccardo LeBron (Pretty Little Liars), Kristen Deluca (It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Fast and Furious) and Mike C. Manning (Disney's Cloud Nine, Hawaii 5-0).
