Steve Burton on Dylan's 'The Young and the Restless' Daddy Reveal: "Do Not Miss These Episodes" (Spoilers)

This week on The Young and the Restless, Dylan (top right) is revealed
to be son of Paul Williams (bottom), and not Ian Ward (top left).
This week on The Young and the Restless, Paul Williams (Doug Davidson) is revealed to be Dylan Mcavoy's (Steve Burton) father instead of Ian Ward (Ray Wise). How will this revelation impact the relationships of Victor (Eric Braeden) and Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott), and Paul and Christine (Lauralee Bell)? In an interview published today with TV Guide Magazine, Burton talks about Paul and Dylan being father and son, how this will shake up Y&R, working with  Braeden, and the real reason he left General Hospital and the role of Jason Morgan.

Burton on Dylan and Paul's new connection: "This affects everybody and that's when you know it's a great story. As we've already found out, Dylan and Paul have the same blood type and finally the news comes out that Paul is his dad, which is obviously a big shocker."

Burton on how this will impact Genoa City: "This is whole new territory for those two (Paul and Dylan) and for many others. You're going to see how this affects Paul and Nikki, and Paul and Christine, and Victor and Nikki. Do not miss these episodes, people!"

Burton on working with Eric Braeden: "I love working with Eric Braeden. Dylan and Victor are such an unlikely pair but the fans seem to get a kick out of that. Everyone wants to beat up Ian Ward! [Laughs] It's like that movie Airplane where everybody's waiting in line to smack that panicky passenger. I don't know if there's any real bonding going on between Dylan and Victor. I think Victor thinks of Dylan more as a barnacle. "I don't know if I like you yet but when I get tired of you, I'm just gonna flick you off. You'll be gone!" But I hope not. I'd like to see more stuff for the two of us."

Burton on leaving General Hospital and being a Friend of Jill (FOJ): "GH didn't make a deal with me. And that's the whole truth. My contract was up and they didn't want to play ball and make it work. At the time, I didn't want to throw anyone under the bus over there but of course, as soon as it was announced I was going to Y&R, people thought the whole thing was planned by Jill [Farren Phelps, former GH executive producer, now at Y&R] from Day 1, which it was not. I vividly remember my manager telling me how ABC Business Affairs had called him to say, 'Hey, is Steve going to Y&R now that Jill's over there?' And my manager said, 'No, he wants to make a deal with you! Quit dragging your feet. Make a deal.' But they wouldn't."
