Madame Tussauds New York have immortalized Donald "Don" Draper, of AMC's Emmy Award-winning television series Mad Men, in wax and unveiled the latest addition at the Times Square attraction last week. Golden Globe Award-winner Jon Hamm -- who plays the popular protagonist helped unveil the figure.
Dressed in his classic gray suit, Don Draper's wax figure will reside in a spot-on replica of his office featuring the Mad Men star’s signature items including a hat stand, whiskey and decanter, ads of the era, a 1950s rotary phone, and a blotting pad. Jon Hamm worked closely with a team of 20 Madame Tussauds studio artists who took precise measurements and photographs over the course of four months, ensuring his Don Draper-inspired figure was exceptionally accurate.
“We're thrilled to add to the excitement surrounding the new and final season of AMC's Mad Men,” said Bret Pidgeon, Regional General Manager, Madame Tussauds New York. “We look forward to bringing this new experience to fans and visitors who will be eager to interact with Don Draper’s wax figure, and undoubtedly be impressed by the figure and the new space.”
"It's such an honor to have the character of Don Draper added to Madame Tussauds' legendary roster of famous figures,” said Matthew Weiner, Creator of the AMC's Mad Men. “I'm overjoyed that Don will live on in its halls for years to come."
"We are delighted that Madame Tussauds has chosen to commemorate the iconic character of Don Draper within their collection,” said Charlie Collier, President, AMC. “Mad Men fans are incredibly passionate and we're excited they will be able to visit this figure for many years."
